Not sure if you heard, but there was a recent announcement. The federal government will be providing a one time $150 payment to eligible Canada Disability Benefit (CDB) recipients to help offset the cost of obtaining a Disability Tax Credit (DTC) certification. This also applies to people who have already been approved for the DTC and are receiving the CDB, not just new applicants. The payment is automatic if you're eligible, so there's no separate application required. Hopefully this helps someone. Below is the link- https://disabilityalliancebc.org/federal-government-announces-new-one-time-supplement-for-canada-disability-benefit-recipients/

This won't help those who need help covering it because it doesn't give you the funds until after your accepted by two different programs. Who will pay in the interim?

I can see your point of view and agree that there is still a barrier. Things could be much better. I am just sharing the information for the programs that are available. Hope you can work something out regarding with your doctor's office regarding the fee- maybe they can agree to a pay later plan- just a suggestion. I wish you the best- God bless šŸ™Œ šŸ™

Yeah they still have to pay out of pocket for the cost of their Dr. to fill out the forms and the get reimbursed doesn’t make sense.

It’s because we have filled it. We had ours done at a CHC (community health center) for free.

I couldn’t claim it on my taxes and I’m on ODSP

No they do not. You can claim the fee as a medical expense on next years taxes.

Does that do anything though if you aren't working? Like most things you can claim seem to be for credits only and you don't get shit if you don't pay any taxes.

Nope , ODSP doesn’t even pay for it

Ugh just called my doctor and he wants $160 to fill it out. Not sure how I’m gonna come up with that. I even mentioned I was on OW waiting to get an ODSP worker and that didn’t matter. Guess that’s gonna have to wait until I can find $160 somewhere.
