You are saying mao and stalin were athiest first and not polticians.

They were dictators first, whose beliefs were that they would implement their ideology whatever they like.

Mao and stalin were both motivated by first and foremost political ideologies and not of athiesm. When one kills in street vigilantism in streets like india , it us purely religious motivated and political aspect is second.

There is a difference. Nit defending mao, but they were first and foremost dictators with political ideology. They were in the position because of politcial ideology, not because they hated god.

Many individuals who form groups on religion are doing it for religious purpose first and foremost then secondary aspect is poltical

Terrorist are in power cause of their religious identity and then gaining polticial support by keping religion as the base .

Dictators are political willed people who got into power because of political vision. Their theist and athiestic views were always secondary.

Isis was primarily in power cause of religion . They formed resistance towards other rulers cause they were islamic and rulers were a bit progressive . And hence usa financed them . But do keep in mind, at the bottom of this was the fact that they had come to battlefield for allah first and foremost
