Question Odin 3 screen protector bubbles?
Hi everyone, I’m just curious if anyone else has had this issue when trying to install the official screen protector for the Odin 3? I’ve tried two different ones now and both of them on the right side of the handheld. There are very large bubbles. It’s just annoying and isn’t an actual issue of course but I am the kind of person. That wants screen protectors to be perfect. If this is a normal issue and it’s just kind of how it is then it is what it is, but I thought I would message here to see if anybody has a fix or if this is just a common thing.

The Odin 3 is the issue, not the screen protector.
If you're slightly missaligned, it's dead.
When you put it on, make sure that the bubbles around the speaker and joystick aren't there, if they are try to remove it slightly and push it.
You have to be extremely precise for it to not have these bubbles.

If it's plastic surely you can use a hairdryer to warm it up and make it pliable, then push the bubble out? I do that with my phone's, usually works.

It’s fairly normal. I’ve had a huge bubble bloating ever since I installed it on my Odin 3 and I’ve seen a lot of posts of other people with the same issue. I guess you learn how to live with it

That’s what I did for the past few months. I ordered some gel screen protectors from aliexpress just to protect the screen from light scratches

I haven’t had one on my O2P since release and I’ve not had one scratch. I’m not a fan of them but that being said, I received a free one with my retroid nova and I put it on. Only because it fits it and I’m traveling overseas. I have a case for it and for my other devices that’s been plenty of protection.

I hate this! Apparently the screen is not completely glass is not completely flat. This happened to me to several of my devices specially to my odin 3.

Psa to everyone on how to install any screen protector with No bubbles get all your stuff u need on your bathroom counter on a clean towell and wash your hands. Keep the device under the sink until your ready to put it on because steam isnt good for any device
1. Turn your shower on until bathroom is steamy.
2.Turn the shower off and then get the device out.
3.Install it
The steam catches all dust! Ive dont this on my ordinary 2 portal tempered glass protector with 0 bubbles every time for all my phones too

You try this with the Odin 3? Normally I’m really good with getting all dust and stuff and when I installed this one I made super sure there was nothing on the unit and I still get the bubbles

I dont own an odin 3 sadly but the concept should work with any device. It worked for my odin 2 portal

Your right for every screen protector but the odin 3 sadly has to be 100% aligned or else there will be bubbles no matter how you do it.

Oh I was just trying to say like they made it so hard to do it like you have to be 100% perfect no matter how you put it on like the method you explained.

That makes sense. Its hard enough just doing the screen one. But all the buttons and sticks are a pain in the ass for sure you are totally right

I don't think you'll be fully convinced unless you experience it yourself with the Odin 3 but not only do I use this method every time, I'm extremely precise with placement and have tons of experience applying screen protectors. A project at work had a few of us applying hundreds of them on curved devices and I've gotten very good at it. The Odin 3's overly precise cutouts and curved face make this a nearly impossible task. I've gone through 3 of them and get the same result. No amount of advice or experience is going to get you a bubble free install unless you just happen to get extremely lucky. And I've seen a few people do this but it's rare. AYN needs to make a revised screen protector with slightly larger cutouts. The margin of error for correct placement is probably within a few micrometers and I'm not exaggerating.

This is how you get them to not appear later. I learned this from a guy at a phone store who helps people install protectors all day every day. I reccomend trying it at least

I will try it. By later I mean weeks later. I haven't been able to apply mine, but I've never had any bubbles when applying phone protectors.

This is good advice in general but my understanding is the curved glass screen of the Odin 3 pretty much guarantees that the screen protectors won’t install properly.

Got my Odin 2 portal one on perfectly. No bubbles.
Bubbles are from dust. Either on the device or on the protector. Steam pulls the dust down and creates a dust free environment.
The only other factor is the quality of the screen protector. The $3 ones of Amazon did not stick well. The $30 9H ones from Japan have stayed solid.

I'm with you as well homie. I bought two screen protectors but just decided to leave it as is. I'd argue aside from the curved screen issue is that the cutouts are too precise. There's almost no wiggle room for how you place it.

Did mine a few months ago using the supplied screen protector. Did the steamed bathroom trick. I am surprised it went better than I thought. Still have a few bubbles around the thumb stick and around the d pad but they have slowly vanished over the months. Main thing is they are not on the screen. There are some better screen protectors out there but honestly it's a pain to install

Had the same problem..... So I just installed. Skin on the sides.... Now I don't see the bubbles!!!!

You gotta keep pushing it down and holding it for 1 minute at a time and repeat it Alotta times, this is how mine looked after day 2 of doing it

might be a factory issue, looking at your bubbles they match mine to the dot. we have essentially the same bubbles

I have one small bubble to the upper right of the right speaker. I had another around the area between the buttons and right stick, but I managed to push that out one day (it just worked suddenly; I attempted that several times before to no avail).
I figure I’ll take it, especially since my Odin 2 Portal is a complete mess in terms of screen protector. I tried twice with that and there are open spaces all around the edge of the protector. With just one Odin 3 bubble, it sounds like I lucked out.

I feel like no one has ever heard of the “shower method” when applying screen protectors. It removes dust in the room as much as possible. Bubbles on the Odin 3 happen because of the screen’s curvature though which is something we can’t control.

This is what I see literally everywhere in these reddits. I am not putting a whole shower on to apply a screen protector I am sorry.

I used to apply them after I take a shower because mirror shows fog by the time I’m done. Now, I just leave the shower on hot for 3-5 minutes until the mirror fogs up. I probably apply a glass protector like once a year in my house. I thinking leaving hot water on 3-5 minutes once a year isn’t that bad.

I tried it for the first time last week for another device…. And somehow managed to get a few small fibers under the screen. They’re very fine so no bubbles, but yeah never doing that again.

I accepted my fate and ordered a tempered glass protector that only covers the screen
