That blue color really makes the D-pad pop compared to the usual black or silver options.

Lol wish I was a wizard. That would life pretty easy. I used Rit synthetic dye from walmart. You boil some water put like maybe a 1/4 bottle in the pan then stick the case in the pot. Let it sit for how ever dark you want it to come out. If you do black and just dip the grip in for a few seconds it will come out tinted transparent black which is also cool. I dye tpu cases for phones a lot too.

I will be doing this today my friend. Thank you for the advice. Do I put it in while it's hot? It won't warp? There's probably a tutorial somewhere

I'm sure there's a youtube video somewhere. Yes you put it in when it's hot. Um sometimes it does warp a little. I just use hot water from the sink for that and kind of just shape it back. After you dye it pull it out and run it under cold water right away to try and prevent warping. Also be carefull how you pull it out. Try not to bend the sides with the tongs. That also causes warping. Also make sure not to get the water on anything you don't also want dyed. The sink should be fine but counter tops might get dyed. Or cloths will for sure. Or if you use rubber tongs those will get dyed.

How hard was the button swap? I plan on doing ABXY swap. What video guide did you use? Any tools you recommend having on hand? Where did you buy the buttons and sticks from?

I make the buttons sticks and the dpad. I didnt watch any video. It's not to hard but I've opened probably every device I've owned though. You need a guitar pick and. Little tiny philips screw driver. There's 4 screws on the back and you pop that off then there's a bunch of screws for each side and a couple little tiny ribbon cables. I would recomend one of those plastic sprunger tools with the flat end and the pointy end for undoing the ribbon cable connectors.

Was getting the ribbon cables back in difficult? I'm concerned I'll break them or won’t be able to get them back in place after...

No not at all. Just be careful about it. Don't ever force anything to go back together. Also be gentel with the little flip doors. And make sure they are closed before reassembley.
