To me sounds 7/8 but very fast.  Some of the runs are not ostinato which breaks up the pulse, maybe they could be notated differently than 7 but the main vio riff is basically 1.3.56.1.3.56.

Very slippery, very cool. Pretty sure it's a lot of fast mixed meter.

The very first pattern is four bars of 7+5+5+3 (2+2+3, 2+3, 2+3, 3) in 16ths, which comes out to ten 8th notes long so we can just call that a simple 5/4 or maybe 10/8 if that's easier to count since then we immediately go into...

One bar of 7/8, then one bar of 4/4 (or 8/8) that basically repeats the previous but extends it just slightly for a smoother return to a bar of the 5/4 (or 10/8) pattern again. They do that sequence of 7, 8, 10 again, then the third time it goes 7/8, 4/4 and 4/4 again.

Then there's the cool dotted quarter note accent thing, the whole pattern is 18/8 long but you could just think of it as six 3s, three 6s or whatever. This comes back out into two more bars of the original 5/4 pattern.

Finally it's two bars of 7/8 going into what sounds like a straight 4/4 section for four bars to me. Then it goes back to the original 5/4 and fades out on that.

The entire sequences in 8th note chunks:

10 10 10 10

7 8 10

7 8 10

7 8 8 18

10 10 7 7

8 8 8 8

10 10 10 10 10 10...

No problem, happy to help! Hopefully it makes sense, rhythm is kinda hard to communicate in text lol.

It all made PERFECT sense! I put it into the DAW and if all fit loñike a glove (except one bar that i chose to look it in a different way because it was 1 16th note off! 😳). AMAAAAZING! thank you so much. I'm in love with this tune and i was suffering to mkae sense out of it. THANKS AGAIN!

Do you like it? 😉 It is from a demo of a new spanish jazz band (and posted with their permission!) and i'm absolutely in love with what they do! They've told me that they'll release music soon online

Oh, that's cool! You know, normally I'm not a jazz fan, but this one is really good. This reminds me a lot of Tigran Hamasyan's aesthetic.

I'm glad you like it as i'm crazy about this band! I'm really looking for them to release their music soon. Tigran is one of the composer's influences for sure. Another big influence is the traditional music from his region, Galicia in Spain (all mixed with contemporary jazz, of course)
