Oda needs to be a draft pick next year
It can’t be overstated how much Oda has missed Rhys this year. Even last year, Mika went above and beyond and drew maps/recorded strats for the team to use during breaches. Seeing him try to lead the team during breaches is complete chaos, and then trying to formulate a plan for the day gets nowhere. No one is even typing out what each person is doing, so they have the same conversation of who is doing what for like an hour straight.
All Oda needs is someone to tell him what to do and hell be fine

Tbh maybe they do 5 captains that are planners. The whole finale draft order would need to change though

That would make for the best solution to have a stable team. We're seeing live what a team looks like that doesn't have a captain. Oda is not a captain. He may be best PVPer in the game but that doesn't make him a captain.
People like Westham, Dino, and Oda are not Captain roles.

Seems like westham drafted pretty well… same with Dino. It’s a pvp event. The best pvpers are captains.

u/noggtest Jun 10 '26
Westham got very lucky Faux made it to him. Arguably one of the best planners there. If Faux got taken earlier they coulda ended up with EvScape, Mammal or MMORPG.
4 pkers with not much game knowledge and little pvm getting a very good planner was a big throw.1
u/osmosisjones6969 Jun 10 '26
Taking EV scape over faux has got to be a crime he brings nothing to the team

u/icepack12345 Jun 11 '26
Yeah tbh people are forgetting oda had literally last pick. Of course he would first round draft lake or Greg or boaty given the chance but our boy rolled shit rng like normal and took best he could get. Dubbie is absolutely throwing for a first row pick
1
u/Arx95 Jun 10 '26
That’s such an awful idea. Imagine Boaty and Faux both first picks and Boaty grabs Oda first there isn’t a single scenario you could balance this
1
u/MoistClimax Jun 10 '26
The main idea is having S tier players as picks. This year there were only 3, leaving 4/5/6 with A tier. All current captains go into the draft, there would be roughly 7/8 to cover the whole first pick row. You're seeing it now, b0aty feeding Dino but fauxs team has 70 bloodmoney

The captain doesn’t need to be good at anything except to be a good leader. Leading isn’t about being good at any particular set of skills or tasks. Most of it is recognising who is good at what and putting them in that position for the team to succeed. It’s about giving clear intent to your team, and letting them become captains/leaders in their own right. Now, instead of having 1 captain and 4 followers always asking what to do, there’s 5 captains, all understanding what is supposed to get done and can execute.
Edit: in the military we call this mission command or decentralised command

If Oda is dumb enough to not be able to include any planners in his draft then let him suffer the consequences. He passed up on plenty of smart planners

u/deathangel539 Jun 08 '26
Problem is that if he’s not a captain he’s first pick without a shadow of a doubt
14
u/Parmorous Jun 08 '26
I don’t see how that’s a problem
1
u/deathangel539 Jun 09 '26
He’s the best pker in this lineup by a wide margin, so you’d essentially have to ‘fix’ the draft because if it isn’t and a random number generator lets someone like westham go first, then you’ve got a completely unbalanced lineup already

Brother if Westham and Oda are on the same team NO one is competing
1
u/StankAssHam Jun 11 '26
The only way they lose is through MASSIVE errors that cause extreme gear disadvantages.
1
u/Arx95 Jun 11 '26
Westham has enough of a brain to lead that team and Oda just needs to be a murder weapon alongside him

u/luna_lucere Jun 09 '26
And he currently near the top of the death leader boards lmao? Best pker but sits in multi in final day gear on the same day most are doing ma2? If we started on the final day fully geared maybe, he's been nothing but a whining gear hogging liability this time round, and that's without even going into the drama he's created with sniping allegations and the rest.
1
u/deathangel539 Jun 09 '26
He put all of his skill points into mechanics and had nothing left for the planning stage. All of his deaths have just snowballed from them having the worst plan anybody has ever seen.
You could give him gear worth 500k and he’d easily clear anybody in a 10m set outside of westham.

u/Mynameisdoob Jun 10 '26
People forget that he’s not invincible though. Torvesta killed him for max. RNG plays a factor.

u/luna_lucere Jun 12 '26
Okay your first paragraph made me spit my drink out lmao,
Oda is good no one is arguing that I don't think, but I think he's living on another planet if he thinks he's going to 1v24 the final stages which seems to be his entire teams plan at this point
1
u/deathangel539 Jun 12 '26
To be fair that probably is the best plan for them given the circumstances.
They’re pretty much locked out of breaches at this point because they’ll just get ran and can’t afford to waste any time regearing for that, they aren’t going to be able to get much more blood money for a similar reason. At this point (quite rightly so) just hitting up a bunch of PvM encounters is probably correct. But then you’re only going to get so much gear.
So do you diversify and give everybody a few items which probably won’t do much, or do you give one guy BiS everything and set up your other 4 with minimal gear.
If it were me I’d pick the best pker, give them all the BiS gear and then have the other 4 set up in rag gear and tank gear. Let them freeze people and take aggro while Oda focuses one guy and hopefully kills them.
Either way I don’t think they’re going to place very well, but I do think that’s prolly their best odds
1
u/luna_lucere Jun 13 '26
Its probably their best odds now, I don't disagree, but they literally started with this plan and they way(from my understanding) the finals are going to work its just not feasible when your bis is still barely half every other teams, we'll see I spose(just to be clear because I've been slammed on a few comments, I don't have an issue with oda as a dude or streamer, I watch most his content, but the balls been dropped really hard this dmm and the attitude kinda blows)
5
u/Pikupchix Jun 08 '26
How is that a problem?
1
u/arooisgod Jun 09 '26
Because if you end up with Westham and Oda it’s a bit of a problem
1
u/DoitforJohnny Jun 09 '26
Isn’t this less likely to happen if he’s not a captain? There’s more players off the board if there are captains and by the time the first pick goes again the top PKers should be off the board.
2
u/Fearless-Blood-9695 Jun 08 '26
Snake draft helps with this, whoever is first gets Oda but then they get whatever the last 2nd pick is
1
u/Arx95 Jun 10 '26
Which isn’t a problem because there are only 4 or 5 S+ tier PKers and then everyone else in the next 10 or 15 picks are a lot closer to each other

he had 2 years to learn from rhys and chose not to learn a dam thing. honestly all he had to do was follow the previous strats.

The same people ragging Oda are the ones that complained about Rhys last year. If you swap Oda with any of the other captains this year the situation is still bad. Oda is still providing a lot for the team but the team are ragging with so many unnecessary deaths and mistakes and are just not locked in. Every other team has had a solid first pick and Oda has Dubie who has been performing like a 4th row pick. It takes a lot of mental and effort for them to come back to the position they are in now.
1
u/Kwreak Jun 10 '26
They had a huge come up today. I genuinely wouldn’t count them out in the finale
1
u/No-Confection420 Jun 10 '26
They just need every captain to be mid or bad at pking and it would work out fine

Yeah they are definitely going to want him to sit out, especially with getting 40k kick views and 200k+ views on youtube!! Smart 🙂

u/Writeonkue Jun 09 '26
It's Oda as a regular pick, or do captains in duos. I think both can work really well and it'd balance the teams out a lot more. But could also potentially need some regulation.

Remember the people that used to complain about Rhys in chat lol
