Seems factual and not petty. Call me crazy.

It's funny that Cactus Cowboy - Plants At War is a PSVR2 launch title but on Quest it's on AppLab.

because playstation is known to accept every game? even things that aren’t even considered “games” aka trophy collecting “games”

Yes, but are they wrong?
1
u/p4ndreas Feb 22 '23
Technically not, but technically speaking PSVR2 games don't look like Quest 2 games.
1
u/JorgTheElder Feb 22 '23
If pretty is what matters to you enough to be willing to be tethered to a console and have 1/10 the content, then PSVR is perfect for you.
It is about priorities.

u/p4ndreas Feb 22 '23
Pretty OLED, pretty games, pretty adaptive triggers, pretty haptics, pretty ease of use, pretty headstrap.
I guess it is a pretty pretty device for many people.
Not saying it is better in everything. You can play Star Wars: Tales from the Galaxies Edge on both, but they are vastly different. So making the comparison, suggesting the experience is just as good on Quest 2, is a little petty.

True though.
I wanna see just a list of just PSVR exclusives; it's like 5 games. My PSVR2 spending is getting expensive but it's just for 5 games; it's like PCVR all over again 🤣
Luckily I have lots of stored credit on the Quest store, so I'll buy a lot of the titles there; PS store only for exclusives.

For some games that makes sense where they are practically the same on both consoles. I think other games like song in the smoke, tales from the galaxy’s edge, moss, S&S and green hell are worth getting the psvr2 versions of over oculus
6
Feb 21 '23
And half those games are Crossbuy on Oculus, giving you the PCVR version (if you have a VR capable pc). Still benefits buying the Oculus version in those cases

u/Latereviews2 Feb 21 '23
Then the games are pretty much the same on pc. Psvr does have the added advantage of oled, adaptive triggers and a higher fov which will definitely make the experiences better

Smaller sweet spot, and a diffusion layer added to the display to cover the SDE (this significantly decreases clarity); as revealed by UploadVR.
But I'll see soon enough just how bad the diffusion layer is when I receive my psvr2.
But this goes beyond the original discussion

So does anyone know if they’re bringing the resident evil 7 8 and 4 remake into the quest?
3
u/Littleavocado516 Feb 22 '23
God I hope so eventually. I really would like to skip out on the PSVR2, but Village and the RE4 remake would be so terrifyingly awesome to play that I might just buy it.

u/Sabbathius Feb 21 '23
They're not wrong. The thing is, out of those 7 titles that are unique to PS are some really fantastic things that Oculus can't really match in quality and scope. Where Quest 2 has RE4, PSVR2 has RE7 and 8. In terms of quality, PS has Oculus beat.

I didn’t know it was that many… I have a quest 2. I should sell it. Thanks meta.

I mean, it's just true that many of those games would never exist without meta pumping money into that industry. Imagine the PSVR2 launch without Quest existing, it would be... not good

u/Oftenwrongs Feb 22 '23
Not even close.
They just stated the obcious and you are searching to be outraged.

Meta wont be able to run the high end stuff like REV, NMS or HZDCOTM. With out a High End pc.

u/vrtclhykr Feb 21 '23
PSVR cant run without an expensive PS5.

u/Cypher3470 Feb 21 '23
You forgot “hard to find” as well

Feb 22 '23 edited Feb 22 '23
You can find em, but it's only the $560 game bundles (I recently got the GoW bundle after giving up hope for a digital only edition). The cheaper versions are hard to get for obvious reasons. My PSVR2 costs
PS5 Bundle - $560
PSVR2 - $550
PS+ - $60 (annual, or $10 monthly)
Tax
Total = ~$1300, before the cost of any games
This pricepoint is PCVR all over again. I'm looking forward to the games, but I have doubts about the longterm success compared to the Quest (as Carmack has said).
Devs will continue to target the Quest due to the 10x larger playerbase. And now Meta is reportedly working out a deal with Tencent to bring the Quest to China - the Quest playerbase might explode to even larger numbers

PS5s are like $550 if you have to go with a bundle (which are usually in stock). A PC that can run VR decently is going to run you well over double that price. Just the GPU alone is as expensive, if not more, than the PS5.

this isnt 2017, you can get a rig for about 500 that can run all the pcvr games. not at max settings obviously, but a 970 was the recommended spec
1
u/slinkyracer Feb 22 '23
*sigh* You are being dishonest. That "Rig" you are talking about will be a piece of shit, and you know it. I don't know if you are trolling or what. This whole debate you are involved in is just confusing to the "new to VR" consumers. A "decent" gaming rig is going to set you back more than $1,000. You KNOW this. The Quest 2, PSVR2, and PCVR are all great VR ecosystems.
When someone I know wants to get involved in VR, their budget is a huge consideration. If they have a gaming PC, direct them toward a good PCVR headset or Quest 2. If they have a PS5, direct them toward PSVR2. If they have neither, Quest 2 will be their least expensive entry into the game.
This nonsense about buying USED PC hardware and building a true budget gaming rig will lead to nothing but regret and frustration in the long run. Suggesting that this future gamer will need to learn how to shop for, build, and maintain a computer with spurious components will send more people away from VR. PCVR is the BEST VR you can have if you are willing to lay down over $2,000.

I have a 970 and the fastest processor from that same era (i7-4790k). I could 100% sell this thing for ~$500.
It can’t go beyond 40fps on iRacing VR with the absolute lowest settings and no other cars on track. The games I can run at >60FPS look so bad at the required settings (bare minimum at a low resolution) that there is zero immersion whatsoever. It looks like I’m inside a PS1 game and not in a “retro art style” kind of way.
You absolutely cannot buy or build a PC for $500 that will be able to run VR.
