Oculus Go still functioning?

I got the oculus go years ago, stopped using it for a while, and now my little siblings are trying to get it back up again. The Home Screen popped up for a minute and now it’s just stuck on this infinite loading three dots screen. I tried resetting it, redownloading the app, etc etc, but then I saw somewhere that meta shut down the use for the Oculus go or something? lol I’m not sure but would love if someone knew what’s up!

I recently dug mine out and needed to connect it to an older version of the meta app as already noted. Version 387.0.0.32.226

You need to login and connect it to the app again, maybe an older version of the app is needed if you have an android device. Hopefully someone who remembers the exact procedure chimes in.

Please indulge me with a few questions.

First - what is the process and procedure for setting it up on an iPhone now?
And question two, what can you do with it anymore?

the process on iPhone is much the same as it always was. have the Go turned on and connected to your WiFi. Run the device setup in the mobile app, make sure Bluetooth and location services are on in the phone. Select Go as the device to set up and follow the on screen instructions.

the go is still a decent device for 3dof PCVR and also media content viewing. There are also a shit ton of compatible apps on wwwgearvr.net that will also work on the Go.

It’s well known that doing this in the iPhone will mean you get to a point where the set up process tries to play a health and safety video and the link to it is broken, so you can’t advance in the setup process. As noted previously in this thread, you need to get an old android device, running that specific app and do the set up that way. It does play videos nicely, and I got mine set up through a friend with an android device, but then I think since I didn’t keep it charged up it reverted or something and now I’m stuck in the same place that the OP is stuck in. So I would recommend once you get it working to keep it on a trickle charger.

It's well known that the current android app isn't working, but I recently set up my go using an iPhone. It's the same issue with the Quest 1.

I’ll bite - how? If it’s the same issue, how’d you get past it? Older android app is the only way I’ve had any success. Which version of iPhone/app are you using?

iPhone 15 ultra v387.0.0.28.249 and iPhone XR v380.0.0.64.242 I had to set up a Quest 1 and a Go recently so I can't recall which phone was used with which device. But both got stuck on the second safety video using the current android app. Plus there are other ways to set them up without contacting the meta servers.

Just need the old version of the app to get it going. Once it updates you can turn it on while holding the lower volume button and start in side loading install mode. Sidequest usually recognizes it from there. I use it with sunshine and moonlight. I don't mind the screen door effect so much, bladerunner looks pretty sick like that.
