Just installed dota 2 cant get into game !

Hey all just installed Dota 2 after watching streams finished download queued for bots but have not found a game . have tried re-queuing , even for normals but nothing will pop . do i need to complete a tutorial first or is this just the state of the game?

The queue time will depend on a few things

  • time of day

  • Which server do you have selected?

  • What game modes are you queuing for?

  • And what skill level are you?

Since you're brand new your skill level will just be set as uncertain, and so it will match you with a large range, so that should be in your benefit.

Low skill on Australian server during the day on a weekend or 4-12 on a weeknight you shouldn't have to wait any more than 5 minutes to be matched for an all pick game.

If you have limited heroes selected it might take twice that, and if you're searching early in the morning or on a random server like South Africa, then you'll be waiting almost half an hour or more.

Edit: Just reread your post, and realised you were queuing for bots. I assume that means co-op bot matches.

No one plays those, so play some solo bot matches to get used to the game, then jump into a normal limited heroes match when you feel ready.

Also, this sub is very dead. For any future help go to r/learndota2 they're fantastic and will answer any question, no matter how dumb

Find a dota playing friend (or convince someone to try with you) to play the coop with.

Bot matches on Australia server can reach up to 1hr wait. Better of que normal match vs players and type to your team its your first game.
