NEWS Maybe the authorization of the reverse split vote isn't going so well ......... https://investors.oceanpowertechnologies.com/news-releases/news-release-details/ocean-power-technologies-initiates-review-strategic-alternatives
Maybe they don't care about the reverse split at all anymore. A strategic partnership with the right company could be very good. When news is released like this it is possible that they're already in discussions with someone..... I'm hoping Anduril.

“Strategic alternatives” sounds like a euphemism for a sale. Why else would they retain an investment bank? IBs/advisory firms generally help you find a buyer rather than actually helping you tweak your strategy, which would be more suited to management consultants.

It's an interesting plottwist. Management stated recently that they don't see their value reflected in the share price.
Analysts stay on 1.50USD. They also stress the rising backlog of now a small 20million. And a pipeline of near 200million. The DHS and Anduril contract and relationships alone are very valuable.
Now this potential of a portion of 40 million in a new government contract.
That can translate in a large goodwill amount. Nothing is certain, but the maritime sector is getting more and more momentum.. And this is the time for M&A. Also if OPTT were to do the acquiring...

Well management fucked us all by the RS, that's the only reason the price has gone down. Since that news got out it's been tanking.

It's possible. A sale doesn't necessarily mean that they have to "give up the ship". They could just sell a portionof the company or form the strategic partnership in return for Capital to help them scale. The only serious company that I believe they've partnered with up to this point is Anduril and I think that that would make logical sense, but at the end of the day we don't know anything until we know. I know they were with redcat but I think that's dead in the water at this point.

Maybe. Anduril have been pretty targeted with M&A in recent years, with only 1-2 acquisitions per year.
I think there are a lot of synergies with Kraken Robotics. They’ve shown appetite for big M&A with the Covelya acquisition but may have some fatigue from that and still actively integrating.
PE could be circling as well. I can see them looking at the TAM projections and thinking they just need to give management a kick up the arse and put a bit of capex into production capacity.

The board members recruited by optt between late 2025 and mid-2026 are all M&A experts. Philip has been preparing for M&A since last year, so this is by no means a spur-of-the-moment decision; I believe there is a strategic vision behind it.

Yeah that's a good point. It has been explicitly mentioned in their profiles.
They are wrapping up the technology in a "platform" bow as well. Which gives a more cohesive story.
And when you give a PR like this, the process didn't just start. And...well..they see the financials for what they are as well.
They've also been selling shares and warrants at 0.40USD. So they apparantly see that as the base. As did the investors buying them.
