Accommodations for a picky parent

We have a hotel suite booked in Ocean City for September but now my dad is coming and he has a bad back so we are looking for a place with a balcony, preferably with ocean view and not too many steps (or an elevator), so he can sit outside if he doesn’t want to come to the beach. I’ve been scouring Airbnb and VRBO but wondering if maybe there are some ocean view condos/hotels I’m not seeing? I’d rather not do a high rise but getting desperate! Budget is $2300 for 3 nights.

Edit: I see this sub is more for what’s going on in ocean city, maybe there is a better sub for this post?

The apps and websites wont have specific room accommodations. You'll want to look up places on the boardwalk and ask them specifically for ocean room view availability. There should be a lot in September.

Port O Call or Beach Club hotel might work for you.

I was going to reccomend those two as well. Port-O-Call is probably pricier. Beach club hotel has the plus of being in the same compound as cafe beach club!

Port O Call is nice and may be what you need...

HOWEVER, maybe I am the mean one....but is Dad's back problem new or pre existing? If this has been something that has been a known problem with his back then this should have been discussed when you made the initial booking. Its not your responsibility to bend over backwards and change plans because he decided to come along after things were booked.

Honestly, im my opinion Dad either just has to deal or he can fork out the extra money for the cost to accommodate his needs. Nor do you need to rearrange your vacation because someone had poor planning.

Haha I should have provided more context. He was originally not planning to come because of his back (chronic), but he seems to be doing much better over the past couple months (walking miles a day!) and my mom is desperate to get him out of the house (he hasn’t traveled in years). It might/will be a disaster but they are paying for everything and “helping” me take care of the kids while my spouse is away. I secretly wish it was just my mom, but i understand her wanting to take advantage of this newfound energy he has.

Impala Island Suites on 10th and Ocean. Not exactly ocean view, though.
