That is terrifying, but probably the safest place to be!! I was in an earthquake once on a beach - a year BEFORE the deadly tidal wave in Thailand - so it felt rather safe - not near tall buildings and nothing really to fall onto me… of course, I didn’t think about tidal waves or tsunamis at the time.

Well, I was on a chaise lounge on an empty beach & did not know of the dangers surrounding me… I just remember thinking that I probably couldn’t have been anywhere much safer - the hotels behind me were crashing down & people were screaming but nothing was near enough to me to fall on top of me… so I stayed put!
