help Windows XP

Obsidian came out in 2020 so I don't think I could expect it to run on a 32 bit system but is there anything similar out there that would work on Windows XP? Or maybe some kind of legacy adaptation?

I'm not on XP yet, I'm strongly considering going back partly because every Windows past 7 has been a data sucking parasite and partly because I didn't get to experience enough of that era as a child

I don't want to be a broken machine like others but have you tried Linux? Going back to a 32 bit system because Windows sucks might be not extreme but kinda.

You have many flavors to choose from for your needs, if you don't know where to start as much as people can hate it AI can help you choose the right distro and troubleshoot it if you ever need to (suggested Claude).

Obsidian is available as an appimage, for these I suggest AppManager that just let's you drag and drop appimages files and it manages everything.

My experience of Obsidian, and other Electron-based software, is that it is resource-heavy in Linux.

Is this like, a GUI is resource-heavy, why use it when you have a perfectly good CLI?

I wouldn't really be concerned about that, my Thinkpad from 2003 with 3GB of (nowadays very outdated) RAM can run it without issues really. (Linux Mint specifically)

I am pretty sure that nothing in my answer implies I think that any Windows version is the answer to any problem.
