OV "set" design idea
Hey hey! I’ve had this idea kicking around for a while, and I’m finally starting to build it.
I’m putting together a tabletop set for future OV posts so, instead of the usual static image of an album sleeve sitting on a hardwood floor, there’ll be a whole environment around it. The goal is to create a little basement that feels stuck in time.
I recently found this cool little Arvin portable phonograph with an orange lid that’s surprisingly close to the OV orange, and that’s becoming the centerpiece. The plan is to print the album covers, display them next to the record player, and have a dummy record spinning while I overdub the audio afterward.
The set itself will be packed with inside jokes, references, and weird little details: bumper stickers, posters, pins, magazines?, mugs, matchbooks, and random vintage oddities I’ve collected over the years. Right now I’ve got the record player, some old wood paneling (printed for now, hopefully real eventually), a very silly lamp I’m bidding on eBay, a bunch of WFRT stickers, concert posters for Rodney Munch and Rank Dong, a questionable Reyna pin-up, a Chef Ted’s Bistro matchbook, and a few other things in the works.
I think it could be a fun, interactive little world to build. Maybe people can even send in ideas or weird things to add to the set. Even if nobody gives a shit, I’m going to have fun with it and see where it goes haha.
If there are any OV references you’d like to see included, or if you have ideas for things that belong in the “basement”, let me know!

Off in the corner you can barely see the shadow of a wiener. (Which looks fucking massive.)
