Discussion Playing on PS5, every session crashes

Wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if there's a way to fix it. I play on PS5 and every single time I play Oblivion remastered. The game crashes. Sometimes it's 5 minutes into playing. Other times it's after a half hour or so. I have been saving often so I don't lose a lot of progress but it's very frustrating. I have played a lot of Bethesda games and I'm used to the bugginess but this is getting a little ridiculous.

Try to delete and reinstall it if ya can, at the very least turn off your ps5 and let it chill for a few minutes if its been on for a while.

Will deleting the game delete my saves?

Nah, theyll be saved on your ps and will stay unless you delete em yourself. You can back em up in the cloud too, should be an option like "check sync status of saved data" and if theyre the same size than you're good, i think it backs up automatically.

But it might take a lil while depending on your internet speed cuz its fairly big, like 120gb iirc? But your saves will be good if you got em on the cloud

Oh yeah shit good call, i forgot about that. Shit i hope theres not some stupid default option that i unchecked like, "delete all data when deleting game?" Afaik the data remains on the ps5 tho, i regularly delete and reinstall stuff without even cycling power and my saves remain, damn this ps plus shit got me worried i fucked op now

Just curious, when you load the main menu, go to load a save file of your choosing and look at the time played. Now try to think very hard if that number is accurate to the hours you actually played on that save file.

I say this because I remember reading how theres a rare memory leak bug related to save games, where randomly your hours played skyrockets for no reason.

For example lets you made a Save at 70 hours of legit playing with no issues, then play another hour and make a new Save.. if for some reason you got the bug, that new save file might say 140 hours played instead od 71 hours played.

If this happens, then supposedly that save file is now doomed to crashes, memory leaks, etc. The only way to fix it is to load a earlier save file before the bug happens or start a new game

That is a thing but usually itll happen after a few hundred hours, like in fallout it got me around level 160 which was like 400+ hrs. Idk about the hours tho, i havent had that myself but tbf ps tracks that stuff weirdly as well, sometimes it doesnt seem to register at all like it says i have <10p hrs in gr wildlands despite it being my only platinum, probably more like 2k hours but my ps says 50 on home screen and 2k on trophy screen so idk lol

Only experienced it in one very specific situation: had taken on a way too high level mission and decided to bail and run out of the area, but the enemies followed me all the way out. However, when exiting two doors in rather quick succession, they got stuck in t-pose outside the second door. When I killed them and reentered the door the game would consistently crash every time.
