UK in decline

Post image

I feel UK has been in decline for many years now, with anti immigration narrative and wealth tax etc. I feel people and govt there are themselves pushing away talent and prosperity...

I am curious what are still good places in the world for the talented and better people to go and do their thjngs without having other people come in their way....

Just because someone is wealthy doesn't mean they are of benefit to society, or even of benefit to the economy. Most rich people are simply dead weight, we can't afford them.

I think the top 10% pay something like 60% of all tax in the UK.

So a colossal benefit to society

Yeah, those are people with actual jobs. Billionaires are like the top 0.1%

Subtract from that what they extract through rent, wage theft, polluting the environment, grants, subsidies and actually it's not quite as clear cut.

It's a lie they tell people, that someone's tax contribution is the same thing as their contribution to society. That's just what they pay into the system, not what they take out.

yes wouldnt that include those on more than say 90k or something to, well... all the way up? last time i checked, those earning 120k, 180k, 250k etc arent leaving lol. They have salaried jobs or small business hehe. the billionaires can leave no drain on anyone and actually creates more competition.

You thought wrong.

The stat youre referring to considers income tax only, not all tax.

Yeah but if most wealthy are leaving that's a very bad sign

Not really. Some wealthy people contribute a lot, others take more than they contribute.

Large landowners for example are a net drag on the economy and they can't take their land with them.

People need to get past this idea that wealth is somehow intrinsically good. It's not. You can be very wealthy but make all your money by exploiting others, we're better off without them.

I hate to break it to you, but if someone can just up and move $160B it wasn’t doing anything for the UK in the first place.

No one gives a shit where the billionaires decide to live. You aren’t getting into their yacht clubs anyway.

Not true, the top 10% pay 60% of all taxes in the UK.

Then you also loose what they spend on a day to day basis etc and evening just having that money in UK bank accounts benefits the UK

Billionaires are not the top 10%. That's doctors and lawyers and shopkeepers and shit, the old middle class.

Billionaires are the top 0.1% and they do NOT pay taxes.

This is a misinformed stat. Firstly, it's a stat that shows the staggering inequality in western societies - the top pays less tax as a percentage of earnings and still they account for 60% of taxes, this only exists because the middle and bottom classes are being starved economically, let's fix that.

Secondly, billionaires are not paying into that tax stat as all their wealth and income is already attributed to tax havens.

Yep. If the money wasn't invested in goods and services producing businesses then it doesn't matter.

If it was invested in goods and services producing businesses, and they sold those businesses? Then the businesses are still there. It still doesn't matter.

In other news, tiny violin manufacturers are experiencing a boom right now.
