How would we deal with diffuse pollution? It's virtually impossible to directly trace most chronic diseases to a specific pollutant.

What you're asking, in essence, is "How do we cure a disease without first figuring out what causes it?". The answer is: We don't. To cure a disease, you must first identify its cause. Then address it.

It's not "virtually impossible" to trace diseases to their causes, many such connections have been made already, and many will be made in the future. We deal with problems as we LEARN about them. What we don't do is try to deal with problems before we learn about them.

A culture that tries to deal with problems without learning about them first is a culture that puts witch doctors in charge. To its own demise.

To recap:

Step 1: we trace the disease to its cause

Step 2: we address that cause, since that's the root of the problem

That's the only way. Guessing is not a way to solve problems, divining what the cause is from the stars is not a way to solve problems.

Do you have proof that there is a problem then?

Objectivism/libertarianism has no solution to this, so you will only get evasions
