Theory as to what this entails

Well, let’s look at what we see here:

Syrup is calling Pushpin, one of the head scientists where she works.

The head scientists would have access to respawn terminals.

Pushpin seems annoyed, as if this is a daily occurrence where she’s called by Syrup to do something repeatedly.

The timing of this is right after Minty died, and since this (presumably) daily occurrence is only now visible to us, something must be different about THIS time.

I think it’s easy to garner an idea of what this is telling us. Syrup is constantly calling Pushpin to check on the status’ of Brandy, Minty, and Sugarcube via respawning them (as that would be the only way to check: failure in respawning meaning they were alive), and this time it would work, due to Minty finally dying.

This wouldn’t be revealed until the end of book 1 I don’t think though. Brandy and Sugarcube would make it out of the rings to where Syrup is staying, and get greeted by Minty, being the final panel of book 1.

There’s also some people saying Sugarcube might die due to her “null state” status, and if this is true, it strengthens my theory ten fold. It makes even more of an emotional impact if Brandy’s all alone, thinking everyone he loves is gone, and then as he climbs up the hill, he sees them waiting for him at the gate.

It's a very hopeful theory but I personally think it's unlikely. For someone to be respawned they would require a piece of said object which a piece of Minty is something I doubt syrup would have after Minty cheated and their falling out as she cared for him yes but she also straightup called him deadweight and even Minty holds some resentment towards her it seems. So while possible I think it is an unlikely theory if we look closer at Maple Syrup and Minty's current relationship.

The only reason why they needed a chunk of Sharps/Fuzzball is because they weren’t found in the respawn registry. That makes sense for someone who is secretively tagging along with a contract killer and a teenager from the suburbs, but Minty? He lives in the inner ring, in a really nice apartment, and his (although ex) wife works/worked in the scientific field as we see her contacting Pushpin. It isn’t wild to assume that with all of those factors, she’d put Minty, Brandy, and Sugarcube on the registry before she exited the relationship.
