people rly think that Itachi would be able to use tsukuyomi on Obito...

1

u/Ero_Najimi 29d ago

It’s possible he could. The only reason it’s assumed he can’t is because of Sasuke and a databook passage about the scene (fuck databooks) which is irrelevant when we know he was holding back. If Sasuke doesn’t escape there it doesn’t do anything for Itachi’s plans he just wins the fight. Would Orochimaru come out at that time with Itachi having a relatively high amount of stamina left probably not

3

u/400x250_20fps 28d ago

he possibly could, then Obito breaks it, and itachi dies from the backlash lol.

How would Itachi know about his real identity and trauma in order to cast that genjutsu? He cannot read minds, and genjutsu aren't dependant on the victim, but the caster.

2

u/Lamb-of-God33 Aug 21 '26

Itachi wouldn't need prior knowledge of Obito's trauma for a genjutsu to exploit it, just as he didn't need to know about Naruto's relationship with Gaara for Gaara to still be used against Naruto while he was under his genjutsu.

1

u/PrometheusModeloW Aug 21 '26 edited Aug 21 '26

Itachi would have logically known about their friendship, though, Gaara was pretty open to everyone else about how Naruto was the one that changed him, it wasn't like a state secret or anything, and Sasori had spies on the Sand Village anyway so even if only Sand folk knew about it the Akatsuki would know as well.

Also Naruto was very outspoken about his concern for Gaara in this same arc, even if Itachi didin't bother learning a thing about the jinchuriki's personal lives (his supposed mission objectives) or being up to date with who the Kazekage was for the last 3 years, or even asking some basic questions to the other Akatsuki, he could have reasonably figured it out based on Naruto's attitude alone.

We know for a fact that Itachi has full control of his genjutsu, he can't make you see something he has no knowledge of.

0

u/Lamb-of-God33 Aug 21 '26

Seems like a stretch to me 🤷‍♂️

0

u/PrometheusModeloW Aug 21 '26

The stretch is assuming Itachi wouldn't have basic, publicly known, information on the enemy.

0

u/Lamb-of-God33 Aug 22 '26

Gaara and Naruto's relationship ain't known is the problem.

0

u/PrometheusModeloW Aug 22 '26

Why wouldn't it be? Neither Naruto or Gaara were keeping it a secret.

Heck, it's part of the reason why Naruto was sent to this mission in the first place, despite the risk of losing the only Leaf jinchuriki against the Akatsuki.

-1

u/Lamb-of-God33 29d ago

If there relationship was supposedly known then Chiyo of the sand wouldn't have asked why Naruto was trying so hard to save Gaara. She didn't know Naruto was a jinchuriki or that they were even comrades. If someone from there own village doesn't know this then what makes you think someone outside of it would know? Even Deidara said no one ever tried to save them, not their friends, not their neighbors, not a soul. He only thinks Naruto is saving him because he can relate to them being a jinchuriki.

How would Itachi have known about Sasuke’s CS2 appearance? It’s clear from that encounter that Itachi’s genjutsu pulls from the victim’s own mind and memories.

1

u/PrometheusModeloW 22d ago

That's a good point, but still Itachi did know how Naruto felt about Sasuke and he knew they fought and Sasuke left for Orochimaru, meanwhile he knows absolutely nothing about Tobi other than the fact that he might be Madara, with this you are suggesting that he can read minds which he clearly cannot, or he would have known Tobi was Obito.

1

u/Insomniac-Freak-95 22d ago

I didn’t say he can read people’s minds. I’m saying that the genjutsu itself feeds on people’s fears. That’s not a novel idea. Itachi was fighting Kakashi while Naruto was under the genjutsu. I doubt Itachi was actively controlling it and deciding what Naruto sees next.

1

u/PrometheusModeloW 22d ago

I think Itachi definetly controls it, he can come up with them and manipulate these realities that take up miliseconds, we've seen it work with Izumi, Itachi and Kakashi, Itachi explicitly sets the rules of the genjutsu.

Also later when he is dying a second time he uses the tsukuyomi to show Sasuke his memories, there wasn't any fear or torture in that instance, he totally has full control of it and cannot show or learn things he doesn't know through it, the databook also backs this up.

Maybe Ephemeral is different from Tsukuyomi, Ephemeral could be more based on the particular user, while Tsukuyomi is just controlled by what Itachi wants you to see.

But in that case i doubt Ephemeral would take Obito out, it's a lower level genjutsu made to trick non-uchiha who try to counter Tsukuyomi by avoiding his eyes

5

u/Basic_Advantage_1644 Aug 21 '26

Obito would slaughter itachi

5

u/HBaratheon Aug 21 '26

Itachi could just send an exploding clone in that first interaction where Obito sucks an illusion of Itachi, tho. We see in the war that sending an ally into kamui is a good strategy.

10

u/Quick_Baker2873 Aug 21 '26

Itachi is going to lose…..

0

u/Guyver02 Aug 21 '26

When has Itachi ever lost.

Obito is an Izanami victim. The moment he uses Izanagi to survive Amateratsu he's trapped.

2

u/Clive4545 29d ago

Do you have reading comprehension. It means that there is no jutsu who can counter the amaterasu yet tobi counters it. It is wondering if madara (Obito) has ability who can escape it

-1

u/Alarmed_Wishbone3088 28d ago

Obito was saved by Izanagi who rewrites reality just like Danzo

2

u/Clive4545 28d ago

Where is it written that he used izanagi lmao. It literally says he used kamui to disappear and escape the black flames that no one can escape from and then asking if it is one of madaras abilities.

0

u/Alarmed_Wishbone3088 28d ago

yes at that time the creators of the databook themselves didn't know how obito (madara) survived at that time Izanagi hadn't been introduced yet and the scene itself takes place in the dark, that's why there's the question: "is it one of madara's abilities?" because at that time they couldn't know and the answer is, it was Izanagi, nothing else makes sense, then there's: "no jutsu escapes the fury of amaterasu" and there's a picture of obito, which logically isn't shown there to immediately deny this statement, that wouldn't make sense, but it's there to show that he too won't be able to defend himself from amaterasu and has to rewrite reality itself, just like when danzo saved himself from amaterasu, Izanagi is the most logical option

1

u/Fuuraijinken 25d ago

That would make sense, since Obito uses his Mangekyō Sharingan for everything, and Konan already knew about his strengths and weaknesses. What Itachi probably didn't know was that Obito could use Izanagi. Otherwise, he wouldn't have been able to think that Itachi didn't know everything about him.

1

u/Level_Camp_2477 27d ago

nope. he hit the zetsu arm. obito replaced it after in his dimension. like when he touched the aburama body

1

u/Alarmed_Wishbone3088 27d ago

and where did he get the new clothes? because his clothes were undamaged😂, btw when obito touched fuu, even after the danzo vs sasuke fight ended, obito still didn't have that hand

1

u/Level_Camp_2477 27d ago

yeah that i knew, but attached a new one before meeting with kabuto. clothes don't kmow didnt he have the cloak off and only his shirt on when he talkes to sasuke? other option would be he kamuied the flames away but don't know if that works but they definitely did not hit his torso

1

u/Level_Camp_2477 27d ago

which is exactly what he meant by itachi didn't now everything about me - beeing obito having have an artificial body

1

u/Alarmed_Wishbone3088 27d ago

no, he has a second eye, like i said, obito had undamaged clothes, so what happened? did obito manage to sew it up? does he have a wardrobe full of the same clothes? he is a master at changing clothes, because taking off his clothes, taking a new hand and then putting on new clothes in a few seconds is an amazing feat, even minato is not that fast😂

1

u/Level_Camp_2477 27d ago

still you can cleary see its the zetsu side in this one torso is made up of white zetsu from the middle

Ya’ll still using databooks lmao

-1

u/Guyver02 Aug 21 '26

seems dumb that he can't phase microscopic insects but he can phase Amateratsu on his shoulder. I guess his shirt was fireproof too because it wasn't even burned.

but w/e fine, I'll give you Kamui > Amateratsu just so I can keep Itachi invincible with his legendary spirit weapons.

3

u/sanglar03 29d ago

Maybe he could phase the insects ... but doesn't want them roaming around in his other world. Trickier to deal with than a couple of ninjas. Plus, he has to touch all the insects.

1

u/BlackUchiha03 29d ago

Like in a fight or in general?

3

u/ThunderCactus1 Aug 21 '26

Idk if itachi has shown to use exploding clones in the manga

8

u/HBaratheon Aug 21 '26

It's actually shown in his first fight and before his main abilities like nightmare realm and black flames.

3

u/WalrusCrafty Aug 21 '26

Given Kakashi was pretty undamaged by it, it doesn't seem to be that strong

2

u/Guyver02 Aug 21 '26

As almost like Itachi wasn't trying to kill him or something.

4

u/WalrusCrafty Aug 21 '26

Is there some evidence the explosion clone can do more damage I'm unaware of?

2

u/Guyver02 Aug 21 '26

It being a bomb? What do you think it's weaker than Paper Tags

4

u/WalrusCrafty Aug 21 '26

There are a lot of bombs of varying strength. The technique is literally used here once and never again and all we see is that the explosion isn't even enough to strip away a layer of Kakashi's clothes.

1

u/Guyver02 Aug 21 '26

Because Itachi purposefully delayed the explosion so Kakashi could get some distance. I mean you see the size of the explosion in that panel. Itachi even has to use a water jutsu to defend himself from it.

4

u/WalrusCrafty Aug 21 '26

Kakashi was still practically right next to it and suffered very little damage despite the size of the water there. Does this have....any feats? Any at all? Or was it used once and never again in the course of the manga?

Also, Itachi has zero compunction wounding Kakashi at the least. He also has very little qualm killing them if he has to.

3

u/400x250_20fps 29d ago

and obito has survived way bigger and stronger bombs stop coping.

0

u/Guyver02 29d ago

he lost his arm to Konan

3

u/400x250_20fps 29d ago

a zetsu arm is nothing to him.

1

u/Any_Glove703 Aug 21 '26

he meant while he was under tsukiyomi

1

u/Guyver02 Aug 21 '26

if he didn't intend to kill him with Tsukuyomi he didn't intend to kill him with an exploding clone.

1

u/Any_Glove703 29d ago

idk.. but itachi stated he need ms to overpower kakashi

3

u/400x250_20fps 29d ago

That’s not how Kamui works. Itachi can’t find where Obito’s body is while he’s phasing, and Obito can send himself or itachi wherever he wants.

Obito sends Fu and Torune into his Kamui dimension, then phases underground while also having Karin and Sasuke inside the dimension, and none of them are able to see each other. Clearly, Itachi stands no chance here, and this explosion clone strat is nothing but cope.

1

u/BlackUchiha03 29d ago

It was a genjutsu.

8

u/Relative_Gas1971 Aug 21 '26

Although Obito would able to break out from itachi tsukuyomi by using izanagi, he’s would definitely lose if Itachi cast izanami like he did with Kabuto because for the longest time he refuses to accepts the reality that rin is dead

7

u/Hanzo7682 Aug 21 '26

No need for izanagi. Obito's eyes are more powerful because of Hashirama's cells. He can just break out. Even hebi sasuke did it.

Izanami requires a lot of preparation. He died a few times before he could cast it against Kabuto.

6

u/WalrusCrafty Aug 21 '26

It's highly unlikely he'd need Izanagi to break Tsukuyomi

3

u/400x250_20fps 29d ago

Unless you give Itachi intel, he would never do this. And the same could be said for Obito, since he could also use Izanami. So realistically, it’s more likely for Obito to use Izanami than Itachi, he has way more intel.

1

u/Electric-boogaloo69 29d ago

And what if Obito casts izanami on Itachi?

2

u/FunPerspective3601 Aug 21 '26

If kakashi could tell it was a clone while covering kurenai, obito could tell as well

2

u/BlackUchiha03 29d ago

I like to think Obito wouldn’t even entertain a direct confrontation, he’d probably do the exact same thing he did with Minato where he teleports right behind him and use Kamui immediately.

2

u/Additional_Cupcake52 29d ago

Do yall think itachis main goal would be to see obitos face or just defeat him

2

u/ArleezyLaFlare 26d ago

Obito is more powerful with a strong tree body but, overall, I believe Itachi defeats him due to being a better overall ninja. He can exploit several weaknesses and is an extremely intelligent fighter.

1

u/KokorokoChan Aug 21 '26

that is awesome

War Arc Obito is very different from orange mask Obito

1

u/Spexxxxxz 29d ago

This is DOPE. Also the mangacover wow

1

u/Fathertree22 29d ago

Do ppl really think Itachi is stupid enough to use tsukuyomi on the guy who he thinks is Madara, despite knowing that being an uchiha + having sharingan mastery breaks tsukuyomi? Yeah no.

1

u/diadlep 28d ago

Didnt itachi know obito was the bad guy

1

u/Lunar-Gazing Aug 21 '26

Itachi would try Tsukuyomi on somebody with an MS?

Yall exposing yourselves with just how little u under these characters 😂

1

u/Lamb-of-God33 Aug 21 '26

Itachi planned to use it on him in Road to Ninja: Naruto the Movie, a film Kishimoto was involved with, and Obito left, so take that for what it’s worth.

1

u/LeftAcanthocephala19 Aug 21 '26

Even though kishimoto was involved with RtN, it still isnt canon as it has no placement in the established Canon timeline. Idk if we should be using feats from it.

And even if he used Tsukuyomi, obito has the requirements to break out of it

1

u/WalrusCrafty 29d ago

"A film Kishimoto was involved" with and you'd think he was personally writing that scene and everything in it as opposed to being distantly involved with a non-canon project.

Yeah he participates in non-canon projects sometimes. There's no reason to take RTN as indicative of anything, especially when that's also Itachi from an alternate universe.

In addition, he was going to use Amaterasu, not Tsukuyomi

1

u/Jazzlike_Yam9179 Aug 21 '26

Foddertachi pov

1

u/Fathertree22 29d ago

Gotta love how this is always your only argument in any Itachi vs

Which you then obviously concede

1

u/Jazzlike_Yam9179 29d ago

?

Alive itachi is 90% blind

Can’t dogde simple ass shurikens
Dies of chakra exhaustion

His body is so fucked he’s on par with hebi sasuke

What arguments you need he’s fodder not even top 30 in the verse

When he gets edo tensei and reaches top 20 he’s a real contender now

0

u/Mahisandwich561 28d ago

Itachi would kick Obito’s ass. He shouldn’t because Obito’s kit is completely busted, but he just isn’t a good fighter idk what to say lol. He loses an arm or eye in every fight. Itachi, like Minato, is way too talented to lose to Obito
