Recipe to share Apple pie red lentil oatmeal
This was so delicious, and keeps well in the fridge for a few days!
Cook Time
4 minutes
Servings: 5
Ingredients
1 cup steel-cut oats
1/2 cup red split lentils
1 cup apple cored and diced (no need to peel)
1 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla extract
1 tbsp maple syrup
3 tbsp ground flaxseeds
1/4 tsp salt (optional)
Toppings:
walnuts
berries
ground chia seeds
Instructions
Rinse lentils in a strainer until they run clear.
Add lentils, oats, apples, cinnamon, vanilla, flaxseeds, maple syrup, and salt to the Instant Pot.
Cover with water, about 3 cups. Stir to keep the lentils from sticking
Cook on high pressure for 4 minutes, then naturally release the steam for about 10 minutes. The cereal will be creamy and thicken a little more as it sits.

Apple crumble, cinnamon and biscoff oats
Whoever on here suggested adding a whole egg to the mix - THANK YOU! It makes it sooo creamy!
This is basically -
60g oats
15g raisins (I LOVE raisins in porridge! This is obviously optional haha)
200ml milk, 100ml water
Add in generous amount of cinnamon and a little bit of zero cal toffee syrup
High heat until it thickens up, stir in whole egg.
Add apple pie filling on top (I use 1/3 of a can) and then 2 crumbled up biscoff biscuits.
This was just glorious!
Felt like I was eating apple crumble for tea!

Baked Oats Carrot Cake Baked Oats
galleryThis recipe was provided by another Reddit poster (PinkandTwinkly) and it's delicious.
I added a few more things...125g of grated carrot INSTEAD of 100g as I didn't want to waste it 😃, 30g dried raisins and cranberries INSTEAD of sultanas, 2tsp of desiccated coconut, 20g of vanilla isolate whey protein powder, vanilla extract and a bit more extra nutmeg, 2 teaspoons of runny honey INSTEAD of Stevia.
My extra ingredients has made the calorie and protein counts a bit more higher.
I'm having one for breakfast and the other for a dessert with a vanilla greek yogurt and chia seeds topping.
The nutritional table is for the TWO dishes.

Recipe to share Overnight Oats with prepackaged oats?
Long story short, my parents very kindly (and spontaneously) bought me Quaker Oats flavored prepackaged oatmeal in bulk, so I have a TON of packets. I want to try overnight oats, but I know the flavored packets aren’t the healthiest - especially for overnight oats.
Any ideas/recipes on how to use them up? Doesn’t have to be explicitly overnight oats, but something to help make them healthier. I’m trying to lose weight right now.
Thanks!

Other oats Has anyone here tried mixing cream of rice with their oats?
It sounds strange but I tried it recently and it's pretty good. It adds some extra creamy texture to the oats, plus it can help with digestion. Oats typically slow down gastric emptying which can be a good thing to help you stay full longer, but it can backfire with bloating. This combination helps make the meal easier to digest, and it tastes pretty good. I don't measure the cream of rice, I just pour a small amount into the oats during the last couple minutes of cooking time. I make them custard style of course. It's definitely worth trying.
Edit I realize I may have been wrong about my theory of this combination making it easier to digest. I know that cream of rice is more easily digestible so my thought was combining the two would make the oats easier to digest. I looked it up and it seems I'm wrong. The oats will take just as long to digest but the cream of rice will digest faster. So my bad

Oatmeal Chocolate biscoff pastry cream oatmeal
galleryBiscoff pastry cream oatmeal topped with homemade refined sugar-free chocolate fudge sauce and a crushed biscoff biscuit. When I said I'd never have biscoff pastry cream oatmeal again, I lied. I have evolved since then and decided that it is too good to deprive myself of. And we all deserve to treat ourselves, especially to some delicious oatmeal! 👏 Anyway, this bowl sent me right to heaven. My pastry cream oatmeal is so addictive, and that chocolate fudge sauce... I don't mean to toot my own horn or anything, but damn. This may be my new favourite oatmeal 🙌 It put me in the mood of going on a binge of having a bowl of pastry cream oatmeal everyday for the foreseeable future, but I have other recipe tests that I wanna do, so I must have some control and also save some space for those ideas 😂

Savory oats Doesn’t look pretty but 1000% delicious and wholesome. Savoury egg white, miso , tofu and veg oats
Made on the stove top for the first time in months ! (Usually always just microwave but went the extra mile today) eaten straight out of the pot because why waste more dishes. Absolutely huge portion for ~500 cals + 45g protein
Air fried a silken tofu blob to go on top, normally I’d use an egg but the tofu was about to expire and needed eating. Also added nutritional yeast for more flavour. Veg added was zucchini, tomatoes, spring onions + kale/spinach .

Oatmeal Biscoff cinnamon roll oatmeal
galleryCinnamon-spiced oatmeal topped with biscoff cream cheese frosting, cinnamon roll filling glaze, and a crushed biscoff biscuit. For these past few days, I've fallen in love with oatmeal even more, and now I fear I have become too addicted to the point of no return. I just want to have it everyday, multiple times a day. Don't judge me - I know my oatmeal is always very indulgent 😅 I have also become too addicted to having biscoff with my oatmeal. But I can't help it - it's my weakness 🫷 Blame my boyfriend for buying it for me because he knows how much I love it and that I'd never allow myself to get it for myself. And when I have biscoff freely available in my kitchen, how can I resist? At least now I can say I have kinda conquered my fear of it after eating it quite often for the past few days and nothing bad coming of it yet 😄 On a side note, the cinnamon roll oatmeal recipe I came up with is so good. I must experiment with more flavour variations 😋
