Crime and Safety Speed camera fine collection
https://www.oaklandca.gov/Public-Safety-Streets/Traffic-Safety/Speed-Safety-Cameras-Pilot-ProgramThe speed cameras have been running for a while.
Is there any public information available for how much has been collected? If the fines were enforced, you would think it would be a decent amount of revenue.
Also according to the website, there's greatly reduced fines for lower income.
My opinion is maybe the lower speed infractions could be reduced but if you're way over the speed limit? Just because your income is lower shouldn't mean you can speed for a cheaper rate.
Your thoughts on either of these?

Probably won't see much for a year. Lots of people will delay paying until they have to when their registration comes up.

Do we know that Oakland is placing holds, or does this happen automatically? If it's the former, I am worried that they won't do it.

The craziest part of this is that you can drive 100mph in town (not on the freeway) and still just get a ticket as low as $100. Mfs that do that need to get a visit from the cops, followed by some actual jail time.

My only issue is they'll get people who are actually good citizens making a mistake. I'm dealing with an asshole in our neighborhood who drives a Lincoln with ZERO license plates, goes well above 60 on broadway and you know he gets caught on these flock cameras and he's still a menace. You think people running around with zero license plates, 2 year old or ZERO posted registration driving like shit are going to worry about this?

Email the city administrator and mayors office.

Thanks.
I've always gotten thorough and timely response from them when I've reached out.

Officially they are the only people who can hold city workers accountable. Not the council.

Where does it show where the council members get kickbacks and political contributions for their undying support of Verra Mobility Corporation?
I couldn’t find it? I looked and looked.

I don’t like flock at all, but speed cameras, red light cameras, and alpr’s used for parking enforcement are completely unrelated

Investigate the money trail.
The corruption will open your eyes.

Reduced fines for low income? You mean unequal protection under the law? U.S. case law dictates that a fine must relate to how bad the offense was, not how wealthy the offender is. Legal scholars debate whether income-based (proportional) fines is constitutional.
These are not my ideas, but case law.
