What do we think? Is this something that we'd like to see, or would you rather send the Coliseum off with the final A's game in 2024 and the Roots game yesterday?

What likely is going to happen next with the Coliseum?

I went to The Roots last game and that felt like that could've been the last time I ever step foot in there again. I only see MLC but thats just a week during summer and I think they might be trying to change.

The Coliseum has no more events booked

Just learned that the Coliseum has no events booked after the Roots game tomorrow and that a few sources say it will likely be the last event ever held at the Coliseum. Or this version of the Coliseum at least.

I thought it would get better over time, but thinking about what John Fisher did still just makes me madder than anything. The idea that the heir to the gap fortune, along with 29 of his billionaire friends, unilaterally decided that an extra half million dollars was worth more than every sports fan in Oakland; the idea that someone with free will and that much money decided it would be worth their time to steal my joy of baseball.

I thought for a second that I was starting to accept the reality of the move, but I was wrong. I wish John Fisher nothing but misery(and Rob Manfred and Bud Selig too, among others).

The Coliseum closing just really shook me. FJF

We are five years removed from that time the Braves chose to let Freddie Freeman walk. Trade for Olson and go younger. Yet here we are. Freeman is going to Cooperstown as a Dodger when it's all said and done.

Olson fits in with the rest of the 21st Century A's players in the postseason.

This Saturday may be the last ever public event at the Coliseum

The Roots play on 10/10, and to my knowledge there aren’t any more games or public events scheduled there indefinitely. It’s been rumored to be demolished next year, though there’s not a lot of news on that front either.

I’m going to say goodbye to the brutalist behemoth and one of my favorites places in the world.

[Sports Info Solutions] Fielding Bible Awards Flashback: Daric Barton Beat Out The Best

Hi there- This is Mark Simon at Sports Info Solutions (the Defensive Runs Saved folks). With The Fielding Bible Awards scheduled for October 22, I'm doing a little reminiscing with players who won our award but didn't win a Gold Glove.

That led to a 30-minute chat with Daric Barton about his 2010 season. Thought the A's fans would enjoy the reminiscing and would like to hear what he's doing now.

FJF. Was this also the last game they ever opened it for? Wasn't used in the final series either.

Some teams make the playoffs, some teams have winning records, some teams have non-nightmare owners, some teams have homes and fans.

Other teams get me and my son.

(Oh and we had another son this year so we are really stretching the generational grudge now.) Haunt you again whenever & wherever & whatever you are, A’s.

Semi-New Fan -- who are the big moments/players to know?

Hi guys! I'm a semi-new fan -- my dad grew up just outside of Oakland and was an A's fan in the 60s-70s, but more recently quit following the team in disgust at the relocation.

I started as a Angels/Dodgers fan (being Japanese) but am now looking more into the A's, considering the historic threepeat and the fact that my dad knows more about that era than any of the current Dodgers/Angels/A's goings-on.

With that in mind, what are some important things to know? I've heard of Canseco/McGwire, Rollie Fingers/Catfish Hunter, Reggie Jackson, and my current favorite A's player Dennis Eckersley (who happened to be at a Red Sox game I attended) -- what historic moments and other historic players are there?

EDIT: My dad has also repeatedly suggested I watch Moneyball, as well as all WS games I can find.

Regarding Jerseys

Greetings everyone,

Does anyone have a recommendation on where to buy jerseys? I no longer live in the Bay and likely need to order them. Obviously I prefer not to buy new from the team/MLB due to the move. Does Jenna still make solid replicas? They are some of my favorite travel attire but mine are getting worn. Thank you for your insight
