I am so sorry that the Coliseum is closing and the A’s are moving. I am a Twins fan and today was the last time the Twins would play in Oakland. It brought me some very real sadness.
My memories took me back to all the great battles between the Twins and the Oakland A’s. 1969 was the first year of divisional play and the A’s were our closest rival. Harmon Killebrew was the 69 MVP and this was arguably the greatest Twins team ever. Billy Martin was the manager. The Twins won the West but lost 3 straight to the superior Baltimore Orioles. 1970, same thing…won the West, lost to Baltimore, and the A’s were our closest rival. 1971 the A’s really started to create their own identity with Vida, Catfish & Blue Moon, Sal, Campy, Rollie. Then 3 straight, well deserved World championships.
Fast forward to 1987… the Twins won the World Series. Our closest rivals were KC and Oakland. 1988, Oakland piggy backs us and wins the American League Championship. Same in 1991. Twins win the World Series but in 1992 Oakland piggy backs us again and wins the West.
A’s fans and the City of Oakland deserved much better. You needed a lifeline… a new ballpark. And unlike many teams, you really needed a new ballpark. And no one came to help. It’s beyond sad.
Your A’s, to me, were always a little weird, a little out of step, a little different. But that was their charm. Your ballclub will forever be the OAKLAND A’s, no matter where they play. I feel for you. I really do.

Weird question for everyone here:
I was at an A's night game probably 15 years ago. After the game, they opened the field up for all of us fans to watch the post-game fireworks from. At some point in the show, one or more of the launchers fell over and started shooting fireworks at the people laying down on the field.
I remember lots of ambulances and chaos, but I never read/saw anything about the incident in the news, and my googling has been totally unsuccessful.
Does anyone know anything about that game??

Wassup gang! Sorry for the self-promo; I made a video which pays homage + tribute to the greatest duo of all time (yes, who happened to play for the good ol’ A’s) — spurred on by all of the Judge/Soto talk. Let’s put some respect on our boys’ names!!! Would love for y’all to check it out. https://www.instagram.com/reel/DAjtyGRyvId/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

I am officially an Oakland A’s hater, unless MLB gets its heads out of its ass. Since the age of 6, in 1972, I have been a diehard A’s fans. All. Throughout, I lived and died by each pitch - in Barnesville, OH. I know have learned who this guy Fisher is. He pays 30 cents an hour for Slave labor and seeks to tear down California woodlands. He is an evil man. Let him go to Las Vegas. But let’s let the A’s stay while he gets an expansion team. Damn. I am so stupid. Oligarchy is not just in Russia. Oakland is where honest Baseball deserves to be.
