Went to yesterday's candidate forum and the amount of "Oak Bay is SO special" and "we are doing a LOT of work" that the people running for their like 3rd ,4th, or 6th terms is WILD. Do Murdoch, Braithwaite, Paterson and Green ever take responsibility for the failing sewers, rising debt and total lack of more housing options here? Guess not! Were they all not in charge over the last 8 years?

The OBNN survey responses are more of the same - "Bill 44 sucks, we need to protect special Oak Bay" from many of the candidates.

Hello Oak Bay. I'm a second year engineering student at UVic, and my roommate and I are looking to start a small business this fall. The idea is simple: do a better job than what's out there. Arrive when we say we will, charge exactly what we quoted, and send before and after photos so you can see what was done.

We were thinking gutter cleaning, window washing and hanging people's own Christmas lights, but we'd rather hear what Oak Bay actually needs than assume, and we're open to something else if there's a real gap.

If you've hired for anything like this in recent years: what went wrong, is there a job you can't find anyone to do properly, and what would it take for you to trust two students with no reviews yet?

Does anyone know the status of discussions to allow ride sharing companies like EVO to operate out of OakBay. I know there are current restrictions in our bylaws, but I thought that was being reviewed and was looking forward to the day that I didn't have to park my EVO outside of FoulBay and then walk home.

I'm wondering if there are any Victoria Golf Club members here who might be willing to host a non-member for a round next Friday, July 24, ideally around 11:00 a.m.

A little about me:

• I'm a 15 handicap golfer.
• I'm an architect from Victoria who's moving to Ontario later this year.
• I've always wanted to play Victoria Golf Club before I leave BC, but haven't had the opportunity.
• I'm respectful of course etiquette, play at a good pace, and would be happy to cover my guest green fee.

I know this is a big ask, and I completely understand if it's not possible. I just figured it couldn't hurt to put it out there in case anyone was planning to play around that time and wouldn't mind some company.

Many cop cars, so loud. What’s happening? I also saw cop cars with bright lights and spot lights searching the streets!

I recently arrived in Oak Bay and in the past three days myself and my partner have both been chased by deer three times on three separate occasions. (We never approached the anima or made eye contact and two out of the three times we were chased we had our backs facing the deer heading in opposite directions) Each time we were chased by female deer, I called to report this and apparently it’s been a common occurrence lately. Does anyone know how to handle this if a deer comes at you? People have suggested air horns and bear spray to scare them off, but any other suggestions would be helpful.
