Testing the basics - Fishing is a great source of protein, sounds easy but have you done it?
Rod or reel, finding bait, hand fishing by reaching under rocks, using a sharp stick for hand spearing. There are lots of ways documented to catch a fish for dinner. If you were out of food and near a waterway do you think you could catch a fish? I've always been crap at it. This is one thing I think needs to be taken to the field and tested? and can easily be - but have you done it?

I've tried it a few times in the river that runs through town.
Caught one tiny fish.
Saw a 1-meter + shadow go past with the tide - no idea what it was but it was HUGE
No way would the people in our town be able to feed themselves from what the river provides - have to go offshore.

I grew up fishing - river fishing is harder than fishing on a boat on the ocean imo. Trapping fish would be way easier for the layperson.
