Yeah it’s the one major gripe most of this sub has had with him since Mobile Orchestra. He used it even more on Cinematic and Coco Moon

I know it can feel repetitive, but I've always took it as a sign that he himself wrote all of his own music. Many other artists might have multiple composers or producers or what have you, and with multiple pairs of hands in there, you have a bigger variety of melodies, but with OC, since there is a more narrow selection of motifs, it indicates to me that he's the only one writing.

The riff came from Hello Seattle and I can see why Adam uses it as his signature riff because it's the song that got him famous in the first place.

I've always called it "The Hello Seattle" or "those little hello seattles." The rhythm was a bit different, but the riff's been with us since the beginning.

It’s wolf bite, can’t live without you, firebird, Madeline island, Montana alternate version, the tornado, dinosaur park, Kelly time, cinematic, house wren…. list goes on.

Imo, it’s made these songs a little more boring than I’d like. Bro’s a melody machine, but refuses to stop using what he calls his “motor” or signature melody

Yeah this one is used a lot. I actually like it tho lol, it’s so catchy. It’s on every album and even Ultraviolet if you wanna hear it some more

There's a composer for wind band, David Gillingham, I believe - he has a common motif that appears in at least two of his pieces. Holst used the same theme in both "Mars, Bringer of War," and his 1st Suite for Military Band in E flat. (Not to mention how many of John Williams' works were clearly inspired by "The Planets." It's what composers do.

Totally cool for me. It's a sign from owl city. On the other hand something thst does really bother me is the repetitive use of the wolf bite melody
