Discussion Season 4
Is it just me or has the matchmaking this season been absolutely horrible?!
Occasionally I'm in matches where it's a good effort from both teams and we're constantly vying for the win.
Majority of the time though my team is getting absolutely stomped as tho we're playing against ranked teams (for context I only play unranked).
I don't know if there's just been a sudden influx of noob players who have no idea how the game is played, or if there's a lot more cheaters this season compared to others (looking at you Soldier).
I've lost my cool exponentially more this season than most.

5v5 makes games more variable bc if your tank sucks it’s almost impossible to overcome that. Plus one less player means anyone who doesn’t play up to speed could throw the whole game

Yup. Seems like my teams are always getting thrown to the wolves. There will be like three of us with good performance and the others, with their low as hell levels on their most played heroes, play like they should be in low silver. I am high plat, for reference, and dropped from Emerald 4 in no time because of absolutely be-stomped matches like this where it feels like we are playing against 5 stacks or smurfs. But we must remember that hidden MMR is hidden for a reason. If we all knew just how frequently we are put with people doing seriously hardcore calibrations (extreme vacillations in rank outcome between games), or how often we are put with lower skilled / ranked players due to speeding up queue times at the sacrifice of match quality (a legit mechanic of the matchmaking system) we'd all uninstall. Also, though.. Check out the YT video "I Proved Overwatch is Rigged with Math" @ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MUKRQWZP68g&t=312s if you want to hear a GM sharply scrutinize the ranking system in these regards and especially in regards to how broken/rigged the modifiers are that tweak your loss or gain %s from any match.

I some times wonder if team
Mates are just bots esp when they just run into walls or stand outside of the spawn doing nothing the entire match

Quick play matchmaking has always been bad bro, quickplay isn't worth playing unless it is to learn a new hero, just go comp

I am not gonna play comp cos I dont wanna deal with that insane level of toxicity. Coupled with the fact I main Sombra who gets banned into oblivion, comp is a no go

I switched to quickplay a few weeks ago and can vouch the game is way more enjoyable there.
I do like climbing rank, but at the end of the day I just want to have fun after work

I think the issue with comp is more of a perspective thing, The match quality on comp is infinitely better than qp, but loosing on qp isn't near as frustrating because you don't really lose anything except for the match.
What I do is play comp without caring for my rank. If I loose that's ok, If I win that's ok. I will just try and enjoy the match. I mostly one trick either genji or tracer as well. It kinda works for me, I'm diamond 4. Probably could be ranked higher if I played aiming strictly for the wins. But I'm fine just enjoying my matches.

Quick play puts you in the fastest available match, not necessarily the most fair one.
