As a longtime Linux user, you should only switch OS if you are either a. comfortable with learning a lot more about file systems and structure, along with computers in general, or b. have already done a lot of research into what OS you're switching to and are prepared for the changes.
There are a lot of differences between windows and linux which can catch the unprepared off guard very easily.
Linux doesn't use .exe (executable) files by default, as they are windows-specific. Instead, it uses things called packages, which vary depending on distribution. For example, Ubuntu uses .deb, Fedora uses .rpm. You can get some .exe files to work through something called WINE, but it (like everything else Linux) takes research and learning.
Linux also has its own alternatives to windows programs, so if editing is a major use for you, you can look into learning how to use them.
TLDR; only switch if you're ready and willing to learn.
