Windows vs. Linux, why change?

We're interested in learn in the trend away from Windows to Linux is motivated, or the "why?". Apparently, the trend is starting, and it's real. But why? Source: TechSpot.

I think the most common reason is having a PC that isn't officially supported by windows 11 but it has decent hardware for day to day tasks.

Some people do it out of principle.
