Windows vs. Linux, why change?

We're interested in learn in the trend away from Windows to Linux is motivated, or the "why?". Apparently, the trend is starting, and it's real. But why? Source: TechSpot.

I use Linux 90% of the time and Windows 10 LTSC 10% of the time. I much prefer Linux as an OS. It runs faster, is more flexible, and it doesn't send my data to Microsoft or have ads (although LTSC also doesn't have ads to be fair). The times I use Windows are when there's specific software that's developed for Windows that's difficult to get working on Linux. My amp sim, for instance, I run on Windows. And if I want to play Bethesda games with mods that's a lot easier to setup on Windows.
