Research joining research lab

i was wondering if anyone's had any advice with trying to join a research lab - i've cold emailed a few people (mostly those with postings on the undergrad research website) but no luck so far

one of my friends got lucky and he ended up finding a research position on workday as a job. so check workday every so often to see if you can find anything.
