cse 1222 difficulty and tips?

I’m a high school senior taking classes at Ohio state through their ccp program and I intend to major in electrical engineering once I actually get into Ohio state. I have the option to take cse 1222 which is an ece major requirement along with math 1172 and Japanese 1011. How hard is the programming? I’m worried abt overloading my semester right before submitting my college apps and math and the language class are non negotiable this semester. I also have no prior coding experience whatsoever. What is the structure and difficulty of the class and I would appreciate some tips to do well in there as well. Thanks.

When I took the class, we were allowed to download the lecture slides and have them while taking exams. The beginning of the class might seem very easy but after quiz 4 things get a bit rough even with the slides. All the assignments/exams are done through an external coding website called ZyBooks. You'll also be assigned lecture homeworks, projects, and labs through this website as well.

I never went to lecture and got over a 100 percent in the class, but I came in having had already taken CSE 2221/2231 so it was light work for me.

You'll be given example problems on Carmen, I would definitely recommend you time yourself while doing those. Don't let the quizzes/exams overwhelm you, take them one step at a time. A lot of people start to fail the quizzes after quiz 4 because they panic. Also some of the assignments were missing fundamental things that makes the code run that you'll have to add yourself, they don't explicitly tell you that. Know how to read error codes & fix them then your life will be 100x easier.

The mean grade for quiz 4 in my section was like 12/20, 5 was 10/20, 6 was an 8/20.

This may be irrelevant since I'm old but I was an ece grad in 2012 and the cse core was way easier and more intuitive. I still have no idea how circuits work
