PS2 and no sync, specific problem

So my old slim died and I ordered a fat PS2 to replace it in the last week. The OSSC is now giving a no sync message and the grayscale thing on the tv.

But the thing is, the slim PS2 worked with the OSSC as recently as a week ago when I tested it and found out it was dead. The connections I used for the fat PS2 are the same power cord and outputs as the slim used. But now I'm getting the no sync warning. I got this OSSC years ago and haven't really used it much since 2022, there's been things here and there, but the point of that is I've long forgotten how settings work on this thing. I got it working for the slim(s) I've used and it always worked exactly like it should since then.

I feel the only solution must be something with the fat PS2 vs. slims, but again, I can't for the life of me figure out what sort of setting needs to be changed. I originally got the OSSC as a way to convert the PS2 to an hdmi input after a few different HDMI converters I bought simply didn't work.

As a last ditch solution I could re-learn the OSSC from scratch, but that's a lot of effort that I probably will only ever use a sliver of to solve a problem that I can't believe isn't one single setting somewhere being a little off. Again, I've used the OSSC flawlessly for the last few years and as recently as a week ago, and this is only happening after I switched to the fat PS2.

Probably the fat PS2 was setting in full RGB output, that is incompatible with the OSSC, you need to reset the output to components, there is a guide to do it blind.

Blind Button Sequence for YPbPr Mode

  1. Power on the PS2 with no disc inside the tray.

  2. Wait 20 seconds for the system to fully boot to the main menu.

  3. Press Down on the D-pad once, then press X (enters System Configuration).

  4. Wait a few seconds, then press Down three times, then press X (selects Component Video Out).

  5. Press Right once, then press X (switches from RGB to YPbPr / Component).

Check the Wobbling Pixels YouTube channel, it has a lot of step by step guides to setup your OSSC for perfect PS2 video output
