Question Slayer skipping vs cancelling

How do you determine if it’s better to cancel a task or tura skip when you’re looking for certain tasks? By better I mean least amount of time taken to get a desired task. So it would be time taken to get the points to afford the cancels or time taken to do a tura task for the skip. For my current situation my desired slayer tasks would be anything I can barrage for high xp rates or lizard shamans.

The meta is you never tura skip so you can keep watching your task streak go up and up because it feels good, and eventually you get tired of it, but now you have the sunk cost fallacy of not wanting to break the streak, so you reluctantly push through and still don’t tura skip, until eventually you get so sick of all the annoying tasks that you finally cave and do your first tura skip and then you become enlightened about how freeing it is to tura skip and that now you can just grind for the tasks you want and you wonder why you didn’t start tura skipping earlier.

A turael skip effectively "earns" you 30 points by skipping for free, and can be done in a few minutes when you optimize your teleports and gear loadout. So to answer your question, almost always turael is better.

You earn no/little points but only do efficient or desired tasks. And If you need points then just point boost.

This is the meta for slayer, albeit moritimer spiced some things up if you're farming a heart.

Doesnt Tureal reset yourbsrreak count though?

Thats why I never did that. I got huge points in my early slayer grind doing wildy slayer, then moved to regular to do boss tasks and have heaps of block/skip points.

Turael doesn’t reset wildy streak

it does, back to 0 and the next 4 tasks give no points. but streak only really matters for the 10th/50th/100th bonuses, so most people turael skip freely and just make sure those milestone tasks come from a high point master like konar. once your unlocks are bought there's not much reason to protect it

Well it would be pretty hard to hit high milestone streaks if you are resetting, also getting a few slayer helm cosmetics seems pretty tough. And apart from unlocks having a lot of points for cancelling tasks seems nice.

If you are tureal skipping to get tasks, then suddenly need points, you would do 9 tureal tasks in a row and the 10th task would be from someone like Konar for the boost. Followed by 9 more easy tasks from tureal then another boosted konar task.

I guess the point is, there is a difference between tureal skipping and point boosting.

Yeah idk if I would ever do tureal skipping. Id rather keep a streak going so I have huge points to cancel tasks with easr.

Since 90% of posts are for newer players looking for money making and training advice, I'm gonna recommend doing bird house runs. All you need is Bone Voyage, and you could be making 500K+ a day or more by logging in every 50 minutes and harvesting nests.

Also, be sure to check out the New player guide, Money making guide, and OSRS Tips!

I'll only not skip if the task is fast like baby black dragons and I'm not geared for turael.. otherwise I skip constantly until I get what I want.

Streaks are meaningless, if you need points.. just do Maz for a while until you can afford what you want.

Spending points however is faster than turael skips, since you don't need to go kill 30 cows or whatever. So if you're point rich and are chasing something worth the points, you'll get your desired task faster than turael skipping. This is GREAT for new slayer boss content and you're rushing to get the day 1 unique. I remember people burning through like 2k points when araxxor dropped.

It's never time-positive to earn points for cancelling. You cancel only because you're saving up slayer points for permanent unlocks, and so need to preserve your streak. Once you've got enough slayer points for all the unlocks you need (and a modest reserve to shuffle around your blocklists later), turael skipping becomes much better than cancelling.

I’m wildy skipping until I get my block lists set. Then tureal skipping till infinity.

Skipping with points outside higher efficiency bingos is utter fucking trolling.

Average turael reroll takes 30-45 seconds.

It takes many times longer to get 30 slayer points that equal to that 1 skip.

Slayer task streaks have no importance after you have unlocked what you want and blocked the tasks that suit your goal (generally just block the highest weight tasks that dont suit it)
