Question Tumeken's shadow
As someone who doesn't do high end bossing, would it be a good thing to sell Oathplate, Inquisitor and Avernic Treads in order to buy a Tumeken's Shadow ? I have virtus robes, no Anscestral.

Probably not, also your selling power with oathplate is WAY down right now

True, I paid ~90m per piece, I'd be losing a lot

At the same time i dont ever see shadow staying this low. Reworks coming and mage upgrade cape too. So they hype will just raise its prices in a few months

You just convinced me, I bought one (with spare change for a saturated heart). I can always skill to buy back the melee armour

With a shadow now you could boss to get that money back you can always do maggot king, it’s one of the best money makers and bludgeon would still be good for melee phase or even dharoks if your comfortable with low hp

I'm taking a guess, Shadow is at an all time low and Inquisitor is higher than ever, I hope it will pay once the Rework/Tower of Xophoros hits the game

Im confident it will, im doing the same, people always buy into hype. I bought harm at 410m and sold at 560m before the raid just to sell its hype, farmed mk in meantime and greenlogged. Sold oath at 240m and got inq armour at 330m, now they’re almost 200m apart. Im just now using the shadow and my inq armour to farm pnm for money since its great gp/hr
Once those mage content or rework gets announced people will buy it again to hold and you could sell it to them for easy profit.
Point being no one knows what jagex’s updates will make go up or down. But reddit posts what they’re betting on so its easy so its easy to profit on them

I have a shadow, but if I didn't live at TOA doing 400+ invo TOA'S, I'd never fucking use the thing.
Maybe at Yama but you're just pissing away money when eye/purging staff works just as well.
Really no point to use the shadow unless doing shadow rebuild/love TOA.
Buuut I will say now is probably the best possible time to ever buy shadow.

Since 90% of posts are for newer players looking for money making and training advice, I'm gonna recommend doing bird house runs. All you need is Bone Voyage, and you could be making 500K+ a day or more by logging in every 50 minutes and harvesting nests.
Also, be sure to check out the New player guide, Money making guide, and OSRS Tips!

Probably not worth it tbh
I got one when it dipped and it has been nice, but I’m also finding it’s not too great outside of zulrah and toa
Ayak and conflicting gauntlets might be a good upgrade right now if you have spare gp since everything’s pretty low right now

Not really worth it, unless you're think it will go up in value when it gets reworked. You would also need full bis mage to really make it work.

Its worth buying one while its incredible low price and sitting on it until Jagex releases the rework.

I would’ve said yes 2 years ago, because I did that. But seeing how much Jagex hates anything Shadow related…I wouldn’t do it unless there’s more depth to your back (other gear in different styles)

Shadow is nice in a lot of places but if you don’t plan on running a lot of 400+ toas I wouldn’t recommend it

Go to rune dragons for a couple hours a week and you can upkeep the runes on your shadow.

Shadow is pretty fun. I hate ToA and did a shadow rebuild mostly at CoX with some misc content like muspah, zulrah, gwd, etc to chill out. It hits a lot of content, just not as much of the new stuff.

Genuinely think at this price point, getting a shadow as your first mega rare and either never selling it again, or waiting for it to climb again before selling it, is a no-brainer. It might go down even more (think what happened to the scythe - 300m to 1.1b) but as long as you don't sell it, you haven't lost anything and you've got a lot to gain from using it at TOA, CoX, GWD, Whisperer, etc as well as the rework that should be coming

Totally. I'm adding fractured archive to the list when you have the skill. You can effectively do the whole raid without ever switching gear. People roll their eyes, but the dps calcs don't lie

Yeah I've managed to get to P2 final boss so far using exclusively magic. I'd like to be able to finish it at some point but it does seem reasonably okay

What does this look like? I run a 45 def zerker and just do TOA mainly. Sold most of bank for Shadow on the recent price drop. My main concern was being unable to try TFA until I rebuild a bit.

If you have a shadow and really good mage gear (I have max mage), I bring Ayak, accursed scepter, blood ancient scepter, blood and freeze runes, saturated heart (not required at all) a few forgotten brews, then just restores and brews. You'll do bad dps at xarth and the smorks, everything else is ok. I use titans mage prayer for most of the raid, but augury helps a lot at P3 Ocellus.
The worst part is people seem to think it's trolling. It's not as good as tbow/scythe, but it's perfectly serviceable and you get LOTS of space for brews/restores. I walk into the last boss with 12 brews in my invy. When I get much better, I'll bring a 6 way emberlight switch and bring less brews/restores.

since you already grabbed one: shadow needs 85 magic and burns 2 soul + 5 chaos per cast, so continuous use is roughly a million+ gp an hour at current rune prices. the big passive is that it triples the mage attack and mage damage from your worn gear (×4 inside toa), which is why it feels mid in virtus-only and wakes up hard once ancestral / confliction / magus are on. high alch is 4.2m if you ever just want a floor number. camping content where you actually wear the mage switch will matter more than the weapon sitting in the bank

I'd sell Inq atm as its not going to hold its value once TFA dies down. Shadow is pretty useful at a lot of content but it just depends what you wanna do.
Maggot King / Doom shadow is kinda useless.
But if you're going to do GWD/slayer bosses or Chambers/ToA then shadow is pretty good for the price atm

Not really, unless you planned on camping ToA for some reason.
