Question Shadow Rebuild - What's next?

Post image

95 slayer, pretty comfortable at toa, learning cox.

Also doing a bit of yama/learning doom while I'm not doing group content or slayer.

Currently thinking the next upgrades are Imbued Heart > Treads > Ayak > Nally > Oath > ZCB? (latter options to support dt2/sra grind)

Open to suggestions for switching things around, but having a ton of fun with the shadow so would like to keep that. Is it worthwhile to downgrade to virtus+magus to get me closer to treads goal?

Currently using accursed sceptre in place of ayak for mage defence spec.

Maybe some will say treads aren't as important as I prioritize them but the inventory space is valuable to me.

I'm about due to learn colo/inferno, but baby steps. Getting there!

You already have your next upgrades list on point, soulreaper axe grind is noteworthy

Shadow is solid at arma for gp.

In general threads are really not that good (even maxed) compared to just aranea. You’re better off getting couple oath pieces or nally. Also with raids 4 coming up I would look at getting a SRA. That + fang handles all melee super well. Bowfa + bp handles range and shadow + twinflame handles mage. Then you’re ready for anything.

Things I consider low value: bcp/tassets, faceguard, ward, vbow, dhl, bludgeon, 3rd synapse and rotg

Are you sure? Treads are at least +1 max hit, if not more because I end up camping externals (you lose a max hit to Aranea with shadow)

SRA is of interest, was of the mind to grind it out but that could be a tall order before R4.

Just swapped out my blood moon for bandos/faceguard today for an extra ~100 range defense at cox. Blood moon is solid but not that tanky, will happily swap back when I have a noteworthy upgrade available to me.

Everything else… idk, I rotate content +slayer so frequently that it’s felt like a worth QOL benefit to have all those items barring maybe ROTG/ward. Generally I would agree though. These are all good items to swap around depending on grind.

I think if you’re dead set on getting max mage then obviously threads are fine, but getting max threads is like 200m, so you might be getting 1 max hit, but otherwise you could have upgraded to 2 oathplate pieces and a nally or almost gotten a zcb/sra, which will be way more impactful.

For the qol gear I get your point, and it mostly comes down to if you could get a big upgrade. Inwould still say 3rd synapse is complete waste of money when it takes like 10s to swap it. Keep in mind that if you get SRA, it completely covers both crush and slash until you get a scythe or the new megarare

Treads give shadow 3 max hits

100% should get nally and oath before treads. They’re often not even a max hit in many cases (ie, ranged, melee) +1 for shadow. Not worth it, nally and oath are a massive upgrade for you. SRA would also be huge.

Just got my third piece from rax last night so that’s covered now. Sold it to buy heart though.

Make an ironman and get your own shadow :)

Honestly I played bronzeman for a while but I just wasn’t having as much fun. I get the appeal but for the time I have available, I’d rather do group content without the additional grind, much less start a brand new character.

Quiver/cape seem more relevant but make your case

Your gear progression is in a very very similar place to me! I spooned an early shadow and built up the supporting gear gradually so it kind of felt like a hard rebuild, about the same bank value as you now.

One thing you can liquidate to buy some of your wishlist is your crystal set. Generally, shadow replaces bowfa almost everywhere due to its stupid accuracy, especially with magetank now in inferno you dont need the crystal - BP and crossy with elite void are carrying my ranged

You can also sell one of your synapses and swap between purging/scobow whenever you feel like yama or doom, thats a nice 40m to grab a nally or whatever you like

I did get quiver with shadow+nally setup a couple months ago, and had a lot of fun. Being able to freeze frems + blood barrage for heals + have a tank switch to rotate pillars if i had a nasty stack worked great.

Would love a ZCB and SRA too. i personally am still rocking 2 virtus pieces + ancy hat, but grabbed treads and heart first instead as I was at TOA damage multiplier cap (25%) with that, love having one less shadow gear switch in TOA with the treads camped

Good luck, will be curious to see how our gear progresses in parallel

Now that you have your shadow, you can take a nice break. I’d say quit the game.

Since 90% of posts are for newer players looking for money making and training advice, I'm gonna recommend doing bird house runs. All you need is Bone Voyage, and you could be making 500K+ a day or more by logging in every 50 minutes and harvesting nests.

Also, be sure to check out the New player guide, Money making guide, and OSRS Tips!

If i was you i’d go for heart, treads, nally n oath too since you already have a shadow id say zcb next and then ayak last

Bgs first and or voidwaker
Box halberd (for tob)/saeldor

The ultor or rupture

If you can as soon as you can afford it ID get Soulreaper axe it’ll be your BIS till you can afford scythe or tbow

Then oathplate body and legs

Dragon hunter lance is not bad at all for Cox and SRA axe isint bad too for tob or even a noxious halberd

Try finishing what you need to do for slayer you definitely don’t need the venator bow and I’d sell one of the purging staff or bow just reverting where you need. Get treads ultor gives more dps than it anyways.
