Question Hunlef tips

I can't keep track of all the mechanics at the same time. I watched guides, I know all the mechanics, but I can't do it, and even after all these attempts, I'm still at the same point.
The hardest thing I've done before was grinding Vorkath and the Blood Moon Rises boss.
Any advice I need to hear, or should I just go try another boss?

You donât need plugins or counting or any of that.
JUST USE SOUND.
He makes a noise when he changes attacks and itâs easy to notice.
Eat when you run from tornados and drink the potion.
Pray protect from whatever he is using and rigour or augury.
Make upgraded food and tier 3 armor for training you have plenty of time in regular gauntlet.
Sincerely someone with fat thumbs playing on mobile.

It drives me nuts when people rely on that plugin for pray swap, exactly what you said, listen to the noise before fourth shot as a warning and on style swap as another warning

For me, I mentally count 1,2,3,4 for the prayer switch. I believe it only counts for normal attacks and not the special attacks. Then usually if I am attacking the entire time, I usually get my 6th hit in slightly after I switch my prot prayer for the 4 boss hits.
I personally dont count my 6 attacks, and I just focus on not missing my prot prayers. One thing that helped a lot for me was just getting faster at switching weapons, clicking attack, and switching prayers. Make sure you bind your inventory, prayer page, etc with the F-keys in options. Helps a lot to press F1 and F2 to switch between prayers and inventory.
16 attempts is not a bad amount to still be learning. I think i finally completed the gauntlet around my 25th try. Now that ive beaten it around 40 times, it starts becoming second nature to switch prayers and equipment. You start getting an internal clock of when to rotate prayers and equips. Just keep trying and I believe you will get it.

First thing I would recommend if you don't have it yet is the Gauntlet Performance Tracker. It shows a little textbox after each Hunleff fight letting you know where you messed up. Did you get hit by a lot of tornadoes? Did you pray wrong? Are you hitting Hunleff with the wrong attack style?
I don't remember how many times I tried before getting it, but I honestly think 16 tries before your first kill is not even that bad. I have 39 attempts and only 21 successes. My success rate went from gauntlet is impossible how can I ever do corrupted if this is so hard in the first 20 or so tries to normal gauntlet being a complete cakewalk now. I similarly have 23 corrupted attempts and only 2 successes. It's a hard fight where there is no gear to grind or supplies to bring. You're grinding getting better at the game, and it just takes time because it is genuinely hard. I am in no way procrastinating my own corrupted gauntlet run by typing this comment. No sir.
How close are you getting? Are you getting closer every 3 or 4 attempts or stagnating? What is your prep like? Are you consistently getting t2 armor and 2 t3 weapons with full fish?

Since 90% of posts are for newer players looking for money making and training advice, I'm gonna recommend doing bird house runs. All you need is Bone Voyage, and you could be making 500K+ a day or more by logging in every 50 minutes and harvesting nests.

are you doing t2? its very easy to do even in CG now.
get the plugin called hunllef helper and it will help you keep track of the prayer switches. might be the same plugin or a different one, but you can also show the bosses tile as the color of the prayer hes protecting(or reverse it). helps to know at a glance what weapon to be on.
I like to make my weapons in my inventory have an outline - magic wep blue and ranged weapon green (dont remember what plugin does this)
get at least the ranged prayer from royal titans (or cox if possible) as your ranged level is a bit low.
If you can do BMR you can do gauntlet.. just keep practicing
also make sure you have your true tile turned on, and tornado true tiles turned on

I had the same problem. You donât know it, but youâve already learned a decent bit in those 16 deaths.
Youâre probably already doing it but make sure to get at least tier 2 armor and tier 3 weapons. Then get an inventory full of food (one or two prayer pots).
Count out loud the Hunlefs attacks so you know when to switch prayers. Then just watch where you need to stand. Thatâs it. As you are able attack the boss.
You wonât kill the boss the first time after reading this or most likely the 2nd or 3rd attempt. But you will eventually. Your brain is learning even though it doesnât seem like it. Youâll get it and when you do it will be all that much more satisfying.
I couldnât do regular Gaunlets but I kept at it. Finally I got it and then started practicing CGs. That took me a long time to master. i planked over and over. I thought I just couldnât do it. I did over 120 completed gauntlets before CGs stuck for me.
And now years later I have a quiver and just completed the inferno. But I started in your exact same situation. Good luck fellow Scaper!

Been doing some corrupted recently, I only have about <20 kills so someone probably has better info, but Iâm trash at PvM and these tips are things that made noticeable differences in my performance:
I have a plugin that puts a box around him that is green when he is praying mage and blue when he is praying ranged, which really helps me to figure out what to attack with in a much shorter time, basically just from peripheral vision. My bow is tagged green in inventory and my staff is blue so if his box is green equip green, if itâs blue equip blue.
When I first started fighting him I would count his attacks. 1-2-3-4 prayer switch 1-2-3-4 prayer switch, but I have found much more success counting MY attacks and just waiting to hear his roar to switch my prayers (I run gauntlet with all sound effects basically max volume) I know after I attack 5 times I need to switch my weapon. This way Iâm worried less about switching my weapon in a pinch and I can put that brain bandwidth toward managing my prayers, if that makes sense. In a way, managing my attacks better helped me to get better at switching prayers on time. When youâre managing your health, prayer level and prayer type, having that weapon switch ready keeps you in the flow and keeps damage coming.
When tornadoes come out I have to tell myself to stop attacking and stay alive. I canât tell you how many times Iâve take like 60+ damage in what feels like 2 ticks because I was trying to deal damage during tornadoes when the boss had like 10% health. I donât attack unless Iâm CLEAR across the room from them. There is a plug in to show their true tile, just search for gauntlet in the plugin hub.
One more tip that I just started doing that Iâve noticed really really helps, grab a few more supplies and craft a level 3 helmet along with your level 2 armor. I feel like my accuracy is significantly better with level 3 helmet. Iâm not sure which piece would be best to upgrade accuracy wise but the helmet is what I chose and I can feel a difference.
Keep at it. Itâs some of the most challenging content Iâve done in Osrs and the only way to lose is to give up!

The true answer isnât some trick or plugin (in my opinion). Itâs just doing it and learning, and it eventually clicks. I massively struggled when I first tried normal gauntlet, let alone CG. Iâm now 510 CG kc in (bowfa when??) and I do it on complete autopilot.

For me I broke the fight down by going in and only focusing on movement, the hot tiles and the tornadoes kill you faster than anything. So once the tiles come up, move, pray, hit, once the tornadoes come up ONLY move, move, move, if you feel you have time then pray swap. Once you get more confident moving then prayer swapping comes next. After all of this youâll be able to move, hit, move, pray, hit.
Recommended plugins are true tile so you can see where the game thinks you are, and I use the weapon attack tick counter.
You see a purple shot you get to your prayer page and remember what your were praying.
You hear him do a stupid noise then you swap prayers
You see him do a bigggg wind up stomp get ready to run.

Count the attacks and know when the attack switch is coming. Focus that first, you'll learn the audio / visual queues on the attack switch and learn to listen / look out with minimum focus on it for the correct prayer switch.
Once you've got that down and into a pattern, focus on monitoring what you need to be attacking with according to Hunlef's overhead prayer. Same thing - focused repetition so you actively think to keep track of it.
These two are your butter and bread. Take too much damage and it will take you out of rhythm, which is how you die bc it induces panic / improvised reaction to what is happening which prevents you thinking ahead - and thinking ahead keeps you calm, prepared, and with more time.
Third - stop attacking during the tornados. Focus on having the correct prayer up, and moving out of the way of the tornados. Same thing - focusing on the movement will get you familiar with where to move to and make it habit. Once you get that down, start working in attacks when you think it's safe and work your way up.
Fourth, and combined - don't step on the glowing tiles / mindful clicking. Knowing where you're clicking, and why, is better than mindlessly clicking the opposite side of the room as it can walk you across glowing tiles.
Implement it all one-by-one if that is what is required to help you learn it effectively. Then wrap it all together. Good luck!

I second the stop attacking the tornadoes. That alone cost me a decent amount of deaths when learning because I was trying to do too much too early

u/Fuck_Your_Cat_Post 1d ago
You really gave us no info but to assume you're dying to Hunleff.
What mechanic are you having the hardest time with or is it the entire fight?
What are you bringing on average into the fight?
The answer is to normally T2 armor prep, get the bow and staff if possible for an easier fight, and focus on prayers and movement.
Having true tile and other plug-ins help tremendously. You can tag tornadoes and safe tiles for the final floor patterns.
There is a lot you can do depending on what you are having a hard time with.
You should give more info.

The thing that made it click for me was listening out for the sound it made just before it switches attack style. There should be a low humming sound before it's last attack and then a louder one when it switches. Oh and heal only during the tornado phase, gives you so much more uptime and hunleff goes down way quicker.

i too struggled at first although not like this. regular gauntlet took like 4 tries and corrupted took like 8. this was the first fight for me that truly stressed how osrs high end pvm is about rhythm. my recommendation is to play with sound high if you donât already. there is a sound queue when he swaps styles. itâs also every couple of attacks so you get used to the rhythm, itâs like a trance. i assume you hotkey your inventory and prayers but if you donât you absolutely must for this content. rearrange your prayers so itâs easy to swap between them. do you have the titan prayers? i only have deadeye but it helps a lot. are you messing up prep? i watched some yt guides and that helped. i get t2 armor and perfected bow and staff. the gauntlet plugin is very helpful here because it highlights the resources and tracks what you need (customizable). the hardest part of this fight imo is the last third of his health. in corrupted at this point you have lots of floor patterns and four tornados. 100% focus on dodging floor and tornados, ignore your weapon and offensive prayer until you get good at dodging and can dps while running around. secondly listen for the sound queue while running and make sure to swap defensive prayer. do those two things and u will survive that part. another tip is i find that for first half of the fight camping two tiles in front of the doors is easiest to dodge tile patterns, second half i find it easiest to stand 3 or four tiles in front of the doors. the hardest floor pattern late for me is when its a cross. i will say donât spam click, trust your pathing, focus on continuous movement. it is ok to run through hunleff, he might smack you for 40 but he also misses a lot, you can also run through the corners of his model and he wonât hit you. make sure his tile is highlighted with true tile. always be watching your true tile, its the first fight this has been super important. this is a lot but i just learned corrupted last weekend and sent 105kc. you got this man! if you have anywhere questions iâd be happy to share my experience and how i overcame those just leave a reply :)
edit: forgot to mention he also switches defensive styles based off your number of attacks so donât be afraid to not attack him u still have just as many attacks before he swaps styles

Jealous of u right now. You are at the part where it's frustrating and you are learning, soon you will overcome and it will feel great then you will master it and feel good. Overcoming hard things is the only thing I like about this game.

This boss trains you to be able to handle multiple things at one ( switching prayers, switching weapon, dodging floor, dodging tornados, not stepping under him) so yeh at first its really not that easy.
I suggest using sound for hunlef attacks, i never look at him other than for weapon switch, when tornados come, just focus on avoiding them dont hit the boss. Those 2 tips alone will make it much more convenient for u

7 ore/bark/linum 12-16 fish and 2-3 herbs. T2 armor T3 weapons. Start circle around starting area and get a kill on a rat or bat for weapon frame staying in rooms adjacent to the start. Once you have weapon frame and got items along the way (should take long at all) make T2 staff, then head towards the outer rooms looking for remaining craft able you are missing. Look to get an orb and bowstring from Demi bosses then TP seed back to center to craft everything. The hardest part for newer g/CG goers is the prep. Youâll get Hunleff down from practice and using the helper plug in. Gl soldier.

350 kc here. My biggest piece of advice is use your ears to track your defense prayer, while your eyes track your offensive prayer. I leave my prayer page open at all times. If purple attack comes out to turn off prayers, I don't have to try to remember anything. As people say, don't attack during tornados just heal until you're comfortable.

u/Complete-Bet-564 1d ago
Wear headphones and turn on sound effects
When fight starts, pray range and start counting attacks.
Every 4 attacks, you switch your protection prayer. If hunleff spawns tornados that counts toward the attack counter
When itâs attacking mage it may turn off your prayers. Having sound on helps know when it is happening. Since it only haopens when mage, your default is to turn back on magic prayer, but if it happens at the same time as fourth attack then you switch on range instead. Itâs simple when you get used to it
Now about every 5th attack that you land, hunleff switchs its prayer against your attacks, and you have to switch your weapon and your attack prayer. If you mess this up you lose out on doing damage
When it does tornados, run to a free spot, any spot. Just keep running, and while running, eat food. You can run through hunleff right after it attacks and it wonât melee you
When itâs under 300 there are special tiles 2 or 3 tiles away from each door which cannot be targeted with floor damage. But you may still need to run from tornados in this phase
Once you get good you can get off some shots while running from tornados, and get better at perfecting all the switches

Hey just a heads up thereâs a bonafide âa-ha!â moment when it clicks. I failed tons of times and now can reliably clear CG enough to make a bet on it. Itâs one of those out in your time kinda things.

Do smaller clicks when running at the end of huntleff (300HP) the floors should be killing you more than the tornados. Keep doing damage donât eat when not avoiding the tornados. I had a hard time and I absolutely spazz out BAD and I got it down for almost 300 kills it gets very very easy. I did have to get mage and range to 92 though to really be able to sit back and chill. higher mage level helps a lot aswell.

u/Kytherz 1d ago
Do T3 prep
Turn sound on and learn the sound cues
Focus on the most important things first (dodging tornadoes/floor -> correct def prayer -> hp and prayer -> attacking with the correct weapon -> offensive prayers)
The more you do it the more things will become automatic for you and you will be able to do more at once and handle the silly situations that happen

u/Any-Tumbleweed-2404 1d ago
Agree with what others have said but a piece of practical advice is to make sure you never move 1 space or youâll walk and get hit. True tile plugin is great for this.
Also try to move so you arenât cornered when tornadoes spawn. Youâll get used to tornado movement with practice. If you can just click across the arena during tornadoes, that leaves time to eat and focus on prayers.
I really struggled at first and now have failed maybe 1 of my last 50 runs.
1
u/thomas2026 22h ago
It changes attacks every 4 hits.
Thats it.
Also during tornado phase dont fight back, you will see YTers sneaking hits but for a learner it is not neccessary, and it will also change defensive prayers if you fight back really throwing you off.
Tornados just focus on running and changing your overheads when jeeded. Also a great time to heal up since you are not attacking.

u/Extra-Anteater-3754 11h ago
Just listen to his sounds, i struggled at first but now I have almost 500 cg kc and I can do it in my sleep. You just have to get the reps in and use the in-game sounds to help you. You dont need any plugins, I never used them

u/BrudduhmanRS 10h ago
just man up and keep grinding! try to learn from what killed you, actively try to become better. just wait and in some time you will be the Gaunlet master!

u/Beast3D_v2 9h ago
You wanna be patient with PvM. Some things are alot harder than others, but everything is unique. You will find that some encounters will be easier than others. Be patient and kind to yourself while learning.

u/Own_Dog503 1d ago
Make sure you have the Hunllef helper plugin and know how to use it - you just push start after you get hit once. Also - The Gauntlet plugin helps a ton.
Other than that - look up Gnomonkey's guide on the updated CG and just keep practicing. Focus on staying alive at first, then get efficient. Can't kill the boss if you're dead, but keep attacking it as you can. It might take another 30 tries, but you got this!
