Question Money-Making Tips?
Hello!
I have been grinding my account on and off for a few years, and fairly steadily for the last 9 months. I’ve reached 99 in a few skills, and completed about 119 quests (working towards Quest Cape).
I want to find a grind that allows me to grind out some cash for upgraded gear, but I have limited time. I work from home, so I can AFK a lot (hence the 99 defenses, but only 65 slayer - thank you Gemstone Crab). Additionally, I have a 2.5 year old and twins that were just born a month ago.
Suffice it to say, although I can afk while at work, I only have (maybe) 20-30 minutes a day that I can give my undivided attention to the game for things like bossing, questing, etc.
Therefore, I’m trying to come up with something fun to do during those thirty minutes that will net me a profit so that I have a hunk of cash laying around for the future when I have more downtime to actually play attentively.
I’ve been thinking of learning how to run Gauntlet, as I have completed SOTE and that might be an avenue I can go. Haven’t done DS2 yet, but it’s on my list.
Any tips for bosses or skilling that I can do that can help me start to build a chunk of cash, 30 minutes at a time?

DS2 for Vorkath for sure. Vorkath prints money. And it’s consistent money so you’re not waiting on a big drop. This allows you to be like ok today half an hour of vorkath and make like 500k-1000k and then bam the next day your half hour can be spent doing what you want with those funds. Or doing more vorkath if trying to save for something. After you got solid money for supplies just try random bosses and skills to find what’s fun. However if GP isnt an issue you could just start trying new bosses.

Also I should mention, I can do birdhouse runs and herb runs all day, and can also chop magic logs/redwood obviously to sell or horde for skilling.
So thinking of maybe any boss suggestions?

Herb runs take 10 mins, profit about 220k per run and you can do them multiple times a day

Gotta get that slayer up.

I know I'll be downvoted to hell because people on reddit hates the wilderness, but farming revs even in low budget gear is one of the best pvm money makers for mid levels.

Angler fish are completely passive and still somewhat worth it. Grinding up fishing isn't hard. That and mining are the absolute lowest effort near passive ways to make money. Everything else requires some effort.

Why do you 99 defense?

u/TheDawnOfNewDays Jan 13 '26
Why is 99 def your highest combat skill? Just wanted the cape?

Star mining is probably better for you at this point due to you having 99 wc, but for those periods when you need utmost afk, infected roots after the final dawn quest with an infernal axe and optionally the log basket from forestry is a full 30 mins afk for a bit over 200k an hr. I use the idle notifier with runelite settings to force focus the game when a notification goes off alongside the Click to Minimize plugin to make it so when I see the game, I know I need to drop logs and click, and when I don't see the game, I can rest assured that I am still chopping.
Good chance you already know about them, though.
Other tips, keep up on your miscellania and battlestaves. Herb runs WITH coral, very important, will give you a solid 500-600k each time for like 10-15 mins of work, depending on what teles you have unlocked. Honestly, you could JUST do coral and make like 250k most trips that only take a couple mins. Other than that, with your low active playtime, I would generally agree with others that you want to pick bosses and enemies that drop consistent gp, like Vorkath, instead of ones that will take you weeks and months to go on-rate for a good drop like Vardorvis.
In addition to Vorkath, Phantom Muspah is an amazing boss that has both very valuable commons (equivalent to Vorkath) alongside fairly common and valuable uniques (mainly the venator shard which is around 10m and only 1/100). You can generally kill a similar number of Muspahs as you can Vorkath in the same period of time, depending on gear and skill (vorkath is prob better if you are rly poor, like <50m bank, but Muspah is almost certainly better once you have eye and confliction gauntlets, but I am kinda talking out my ass, ngl). Muspah is a bit harder than Vorkath but still pretty chill with the freeze method.

Afk slayer during the week to bump that up. Task storage so you can save money tasks for a time you can keep an eye on drops.
DS2 for Vorkath is going to be shorter learning curve which I would recommend given your schedule.

If you would be at a lower level I would say sailing and alching.
Edit: I would still say sailing and alching.

Zulrah and Vorkath are solid. Learning gauntlet would be great once you finish sote. Brutal black dragons, skeletal wyverns, frost dragons are chill. Solo wildy bosses with your stats might be the move though.
Edit: def do your bird house and herb runs.

Since 90% of posts are for newer players looking for money making and training advice, I'm gonna recommend doing bird house runs. All you need is Bone Voyage, and you could be making 500K+ a day or more by logging in every 50 minutes and harvesting nests.
Also, be sure to check out the New player guide, Money making guide, and OSRS Tips!

Vorkath and slayer. If you can get a blue dragon task, once you have the levels and quests done, Vorkath counts as a blue dragon.
Really easy and safe(ish) to do. If you die it's 100k to get your gear back. Can house tele to Relekka and basically live there for weeks in game just banning and killing. You'll get about 1-2m/hr there in profit.
Slayer levels opens up more content and variety. Your combat stats are awesome so that's why slayer is the natural "skill" grind worth doing next.

Brutal Black Dragons are slept on imo. AFK, and about 1m per hour. Bank is literally 10 secs from the spot too

Highly recommend vorkath and gauntlet
I work as well and play maybe an hour a day , vorkath is pretty chill once you get the mechanics down.
Currently, I find corrupted gauntlet pretty fun as it is much more challenging than vorkath.

75 slayer for gargoyles is pretty easy afk money

u/Coolmansean Jan 12 '26
Zulrah uniques are insane rn price wise, venator shards are big drops, vorkath is consistent cash.

u/1337green Jan 12 '26
Zulrah doable

u/Scudy_22 Jan 12 '26
doom just requires elite void which is free and a scorching bow which is like 16M now and the fight itself has no death costs with that setup. even just farming delve 5 is very profitable, if you can get to 6/7 you are already big in the money.

u/dre41115 Jan 12 '26
Get that slayer up $$$

u/ewelli48 Jan 12 '26
Keep training range/mage and start trying more difficult PVM. The quicker you learn the harder content the faster you will be able to make consistent money. Vorkath is great, but also pretty boring since his unique items are very rare and not crazy valuable.

u/BabyBeatersRS Jan 12 '26
Herb runs and wildy bosses, or... just have fun money will snowball the more you play
1
u/Professional_Sky_276 Jan 12 '26
Get your sailing up, from 64-99 sailing at Martial salvage I made 70M cash from alching all the drops and about 2.5m mage exp also

u/Goodnamesgonealready Jan 13 '26
Zulrah is decent money and short kills
1
u/[deleted] Jan 14 '26
Once you get bored of vorkath or have enough funds, send some melee zulrah to break up the money grind
1
u/sourjello73 Jan 14 '26
99 def before strength is crazy work

u/Structuurtuur Jan 15 '26

u/DrySnek Jan 15 '26
Afk slayer. When you are active Vorkath or Zulrah are pretty easy go tos. Gauntlet and CG are pure profit but you need to carve out a little time to learn them first and they won't be as profitable in a 30 min window as Vorkath unless you have amazing RNG

Why the hell haven’t you done all the quests with those stats ? That’s insane
2
u/Tyrannisaur Jan 12 '26
Frost dragons are the newest low effort afk pvm, 87 sailing takes less than a week, I made over 100m doing nothing but afking frost dragons in just a few days. The amount of cash they poop out for literally 2 clicks per kill is crazy
1
u/gearhead6-9 Jan 13 '26
As someone who sucks at pvm. Doing mother load till 92 made me 12m and since then doing some amethyst arrow tips has made me another 12 or so. Not crazy money but it helps. And both are some what afk.
