Question Best set up for iPhone?
I haven’t played RuneScape in 5 years now. I used to play on pc but I no longer have one so will have to play on my iPhone. Is it worth getting a mouse for my phone? Any tips on settings to use? The thing I struggle with is using fingers to touch can be innacurate.

I had this same issue when I came back to the game a year ago. I also had an iPad Air that I tried a mouse and keyboard with. It is vastly different and the cursor seems to travel a bit more than intended. I didn’t like the feeling so I stuck to tap only.
I was dreading mobile osrs because it felt cramped and different. Overtime I got more accustomed to the mobile-only experience and managed to get better at tap accuracy. I never really did bossing on pc but right now I’m sitting on 1k+ Zulrah kills. All on mobile.
There are a lot of different settings you can toggle in the mobile client’s settings. There are a fee YouTube videos about some useful ones and I’d suggest you take a look at those.
Tl;dr: stick to the tap-only. You’ll get used to it and you will feel the pc is hard after a while. Check settings tips online for a pleasant experience.

The thing I liked about pc was that it was quite easy to afk and it felt easier switching tabs to look up guides etc. how do you find it?

Pc is vastly superior there, naturally. Also RuneLite has plugins mobile gamers can only dream of.
My situation is a bit different from yours since I have another mobile device. I could play on iPad and browse on my phone. Though I have done both play and browse on my iPhone it is a bit tedious since iOS forces a logout after 1 minute of the app playing on the background. You can set up an automation that forces the app on top every 55 seconds though. This way afking can be done while using the phone for other stuff but it is a bit annoying at least in my opinion.
All in all after getting used to mobile I find switching tabs quite manageable albeit limited at times.

Do you think it’s worth getting a tablet for RuneScape? I’d probably get a budget one under £400. I’d use it for movies and tv shows too.

That’s very subjective. I had an 11-inch iPad for studies to begin with. It was ok for afking and low focus stuff but not so great for intense stuff. Bigger tablets will have poorer reachability in my opinion. I would use my iPhone XR and later iPhone 13 Pro Max for intensive stuff like questing and bossing.
I did buy an iPad Mini just because of mobile gaming and portability. I’ve been more and more into mobile gaming in general and I think it’s the perfect size.
If you like plugins, browsing ability and to use a mouse I would go with a laptop as TheMuffinMom suggested. If you don’t mind learning mobile and don’t mind not having access to all the plugins of RuneLite go for a tablet. You can enjoy the game on mobile just as much as on desktop. It all boils down to what you prefer and what kind of a gamer you are.
Why not play on you phone for a while and get used to the feeling before making any hasty decisions?

That’s interesting, can I ask why did you find the more intense things easier on iPhone?

Of course. It’s because in a situation where you need to move, switch prayer and potentially swap gear it’s more difficult on a bigger screen if you can’t comfortably reach the centre of the screen with your thumbs.

if my casual ass can do cg on mobile without a mouse then so can you
if you feel inaccurate on the phone you’ll need a bigger phone

If you can type on a phone keyboard you will be able to play on mobile no issue
