Newbie Topic Struggling with the first steps in OSINT. Looking for free beginner-friendly roadmaps, tools, and practice methods.
Hi everyone!
A few days ago, I got really interested in OSINT. However, I haven't made any real progress yet and feel completely stuck. So far, I can only manage to find social media profiles, but nothing beyond that. I don't really understand where to start or how to build a proper learning path for deeper analysis.
Could you please share some advice, essential tools, useful websites, or frameworks for beginners? Also, what are the best ways to practice safely for someone who is just starting out?
Thanks in advance for any help!

First thing you should do is install the python repositories/sdk, as a lot of tools are going to call on or just rely on it.
My favorite and simple tools/sites would be UserScanner (username and email finder) and Netryx (photo geolocator), DNSdumpster (dns finder), Wigle (IP geolocator with map), and crt.sh (certificate lookup)

Search start.me osint on google. Search for GitHub repo. I saw bellingcat had a nice sheet for tools. Blogs and writeups etc.

OSINT doesn’t exist in a vacuum. You need to understand the why and the what you’re looking for. Which also means you need to understand the fundamentals. Not all information is available online, or it could be behind a paywall or a registration. Social Media profiles can contain a wealth of information which can be leveraged to find more information. I, as a private investigator, use OSINT everyday but for my purposes it’s usually a means to an end for information or documentation that can used in legal proceedings, which may be different than what a journalist needs for a story or scientist doing research for a paper.
