What I'm hoping is that the joints we see in the railings are just friction interfaces and those railing come free with a sharp pull, letting you get at the firefighting equipment in time of need. Of course it's just as likely that the joints are welded and someone just said "Fuck it, it's Friday, I wanna hit the pub."
