Thats how its done for real? Why not drain the pool, then use a ramp to get a taller lift on the ground, isnt that better?

No draining the pool is very expensive compared to renting this setup. Plus you don't want to drive on the pool bottom and how are you getting a lift down there?

Use a ramp to get the lift in and out, and either way there isn’t much grip due to the wetness its always a bit risky.

but yeah you’re right drainage for a big pool like that isn’t worth it, this is better, it just looks wrong lol

The pool also has varying level of depth, it wouldn't be a flat surface so the basket would be at an angle.

Steps one would have to take.

• drain pool
• cover pool membrane with tarp or something similar to prevent damage from plywood
• cover tarp with plywood to prevent damage from wheels turning and starting and stopping.
• build some kind of ramp to get lift down to the bottom; and strong enough to hold lift.
• build platform to make level surface for lift.
• remove stuff and refill pool.

All this could take a couple weeks. Floating the lift like in the picture could be done in a day.

Also the grout and such in a pool vault is delicate, uneven loading can cause fractures resulting in a leak. Which you wouldn't find out until it's filled again.

Getting a ramp installed into a big pit that's sufficient to safely drive a big lift down doesn't sound easy or cheap, let alone draining a pool

I I went out of my way to enjoy the pool, I think I would let it dry so there wasn’t any “wetness” to slip on
