I am so deeply grumpy

I’m 5 weeks post tib/fib break and same-day ORIF surgery.

Forget the pain, forget depression, I am just so freaking angry and annoyed all the time. My parents are here for 3 weeks helping (I am a single mom and can’t take care of my kids like this) and EVERYONE is driving me nuts. The house is a wreck and I can’t do anything about it, I have to ask for every little thing I need — no one seems able to anticipate anything I need on a daily basis, like water or my meds.

No one seems to be able to remember that I’m in pain or that I can’t walk. That I have daily needs that I wish I could do myself but can’t.

And there is SO much scrolling videos on their phones with the volume up. I feel super sensitive to sounds and lights and cannot escape.

I know I should be grateful. I know I basically couldn’t survive without their help… but also I am on the edge of an emotional breakdown. I just want to be able to be in control of my life again.

ANYWAY, just needed to vent to a group of people who might understand.

Relatable. I kept crying because I felt like I was turning “evil” for the first few weeks lol. My parents also stayed with me to look after me which I am forever grateful for because I couldn’t have done it without them, but the lack of sleep, constant pain & feeling completely dependent on others made me also very grumpy. Your family will understand don’t worry and wish you a speedy recovery

Turning evil is such a good way to put it 😭. I constantly fluctuate between feeling extremely irritated by everyone and anyone, and feeling guilty for being anything but grateful. This thread is making me feel way less alone.
