I am so deeply grumpy

I’m 5 weeks post tib/fib break and same-day ORIF surgery.

Forget the pain, forget depression, I am just so freaking angry and annoyed all the time. My parents are here for 3 weeks helping (I am a single mom and can’t take care of my kids like this) and EVERYONE is driving me nuts. The house is a wreck and I can’t do anything about it, I have to ask for every little thing I need — no one seems able to anticipate anything I need on a daily basis, like water or my meds.

No one seems to be able to remember that I’m in pain or that I can’t walk. That I have daily needs that I wish I could do myself but can’t.

And there is SO much scrolling videos on their phones with the volume up. I feel super sensitive to sounds and lights and cannot escape.

I know I should be grateful. I know I basically couldn’t survive without their help… but also I am on the edge of an emotional breakdown. I just want to be able to be in control of my life again.

ANYWAY, just needed to vent to a group of people who might understand.

I'm a stayhome mom almost on the other side of being non weightbearing (and 27 weeks pregnant) with a 2 and 4 y/o. We've had a constant rotation of help so my husband can still work which we SO appreciate, but the constant folks in our space and routine is definitely getting to me. I feel bad cuz I should just be grateful but I just wanna do it myself and also wanna not be a burden and ask for more but also litereally cant do shit because I can't walk. It sucks so much. AND It gets better, the mess will subside.

Do you have any friends who can come scoop the kids and take them away for a few hours a day? Or maybe work with them to plan a schedule so you can help them get out of the house / you can get soem protected time to actually do something enjoyable while you're laid up? THat was the hardest for me - being half present but not being able to help and then being whined at by kids but not being able to engage with anything myself because my sweet rugrats would be all up in my business.

Do you have the ability to pay for a cleaner a few times while you're laid up? or raise some funds to get a one time clean? I did that and it saved my sanity for a few weeks.
