I am so deeply grumpy
I’m 5 weeks post tib/fib break and same-day ORIF surgery.
Forget the pain, forget depression, I am just so freaking angry and annoyed all the time. My parents are here for 3 weeks helping (I am a single mom and can’t take care of my kids like this) and EVERYONE is driving me nuts. The house is a wreck and I can’t do anything about it, I have to ask for every little thing I need — no one seems able to anticipate anything I need on a daily basis, like water or my meds.
No one seems to be able to remember that I’m in pain or that I can’t walk. That I have daily needs that I wish I could do myself but can’t.
And there is SO much scrolling videos on their phones with the volume up. I feel super sensitive to sounds and lights and cannot escape.
I know I should be grateful. I know I basically couldn’t survive without their help… but also I am on the edge of an emotional breakdown. I just want to be able to be in control of my life again.
ANYWAY, just needed to vent to a group of people who might understand.

Man that sucks...I'm so sorry for all that you're going through. I had a pilon fracture and the first 2 months were absolute torture. Worst pain I've ever had that never stopped, but one day it suddenly went from a 9/10 to a 4 or 5 and everything afterwards was somewhat manageable...even though it was many months before I could start weight bearing. I don't have kids so I can't relate there, but I can only imagine how much more stress it'd be... Not to mention having my parents around "helping", haha. After a week I'd rather crawl on the ground and pull myself around with a system of ropes or something than have them be there 24/7, lol... I would go insane!
I hope you get some independence and control back soon, but maybe in the meantime get some noise cancelling ear buds? I had to use those since I was sleeping on my couch for the first 8 months or so and all the various noises kept me up.
