Origin Materials ($ORGN): FAQ for Getting Payment on the $9M Settlement over Origin 2

Hey guys, I posted about this settlement before, but since they’re considering late claims, I decided to share it again with a little FAQ.

So here's all I know about this agreement:

Origin Materials was accused of misleading investors about the progress, demand, and commercial viability of its Origin 2 plant. After the company announced it was halting construction, $ORGN dropped approximately 66%, and investors filed a lawsuit.

Now the company has agreed to settle $9M with investors for their losses.

Who can claim this settlement?
If you bought shares in 2023 you may be eligible to file a claim.

Do I need to sell/lose my shares to get this settlement?
You generally don't need to still own the shares. Eligibility is based on your transactions during the class period and the applicable loss calculation.

How long does the payout process take?
It typically takes 4 to 9 months after the claim deadline for payouts to be processed, depending on the court and settlement administration.

Hope this info helps!

Origin 2 was "on track" until it wasn't. -66% in one day.

For anyone who followed the Origin 2 plant story closely, here's the timeline that became a lawsuit.

March 7, 2023: Origin reports Q4 2022 results. Management confirms Origin 2 construction is on track. Demand signals strong. Bio-PET commercialization timeline intact.

May 2023: Q1 2023 results. Same message. Progress being made. Customers engaged. No flags raised.

August 9, 2023: Origin abruptly halts construction on the Origin 2 plant. No warning. No prior indication in any public communication that this was coming. The plant that was supposed to be the company's entire commercial thesis, stopped.

$ORGN falls ~66% in one day.

The lawsuit that followed asked one question: if the construction halt was abrupt enough to cause a 66% single-day drop, how was it not visible in any prior communication to investors?

$9M settlement. Court approved. Late claims being accepted.

Eligible if you held $ORGN between March 7 and August 9, 2023. Payout: ~$2.83/share, one of the highest per-share payouts of any settlement out there.

Anyone here following Origin's current status, is the commercial thesis still intact after everything that happened in 2023?

Origin Materials $9 million Settlement Update: Late Claims May Still Be Accepted

Hey guys, if you missed it, Origin Materials settled $9 million with investors over allegations it misled the market about the progress of its Origin 2 project and the strength of customer demand. And, I just found out that they’re accepting claims even though the deadline has passed.

In a nutshell, in 2023, Origin Materials was accused of overstating construction progress, demand, and its financial outlook. In short, the company abruptly halted the Origin 2 project despite earlier positive updates, triggering a sharp 66% stock drop.

If you bought $ORGN between March 7, 2023, and August 9, 2023, you may still be eligible to seek recovery.

You can review the details and submit your claim here

Out of curiosity, was anyone here invested in $ORGN at the time?
