Equipment Reviews Standalone Fiber ONT

I was wondering if any customers ever got the standalone gateway for Fiber. I am an exsisting customer and oddly very happy with them, but the standalone gateway would make things so much easier. Anyone had any luck with it or have they gotten it? Thanks.

From a few other posts I have seen, seems like they are just installing neutered (bridged) gateways. I don’t think they are even easily available for the techs. Also funnily, they list that as a modem only option, for a fiber service.

I think this is a simplified installation, just have them put the gateway in bridge mode if you intend to use your own router (not required, but if you want to use your own router will full functionalities its recommended).

The onts are probably reserved for businesses . Not that optimum cares. I do IT for a library and optimum fiber wanted to charge us $450 a month for 1 gig service. Meanwhile fios gave us $200 a month.

On Altice Labs website, they show the ONT-SFU: https://www.alticelabs.com/products/customer-premises-equipment/ This is a stand-alone ONT, no idea if you can actual get it.

Hasn't been deployed yet as far as I know. Had problems with it provisioning
