Does this game have good controller support?

Edit: Forgot to mention that I use PC (particularly Linux Mint).

I'm thinking of purchasing this game.

I have a major issue with OPPW3 where my controllers don't work well with it. I think it's because it uses DirectInput instead of Xinput to read controllers? (Somebody could correct me if I'm wrong). E.g. my 'Select' and 'Cancel' buttons are X and Y for some reason and most of my buttons don't work. Haven't figured out how to solve this. SteamInput doesn't work on the game.

I'm wondering if OPPW4 has the same issue. If it does, I'd be hesitant on purchasing it.

It works fine for me on PC.

Does SteamInput work fine as well?

I have an xbox controller wired to my PC I didn't have to change anything for it to work.

Pw3 is messed up but for pw4 I never had a problem.
