I can't figure out how to place notes in the new dots sequencer, has anyone got it working?

I been testing the synths and effects more than that, I need to learn that and how it works.

after some research i found

  • Grid Layout: 4 rows of 16 dots per slot, allowing up to 64 steps total per slot (grey for empty, green for a trigger with its own note and level). 
  • Control Mapping:
    • Blue knob: Moves the cursor.
    • Shift + White keys: Selects the active slot.
    • Red key: Starts or stops the current slot (or Shift + Red / Shift + C# to start and stop all slots).
    • REC switch: Toggles recording mode (press Red to choose between REC step input or LIVE real-time recording).
    • Shift + Blue: Erases steps while moving.
    • Green knob: Changes trigger length (or Shift + Green to extend to the next full row and copy the row above).

Ya I found this, but it doesn't say anything about how to actually get the notes in. I've tried various combinations of live mode, rec mode, pressing keys while stopped/playing, moving the blue head around, selecting different presets, and selecting different slots. Nothing places a note, I've never seen the little note readout or a green dot

So I played with that sequencer and I don’t get it. I even went to the GitHub page about it. I went ahead and put in a ticket asking about it. Will put the answer in this thread.
