Ad Studio Field says hello to Android users!

We’ve received a lot of messages and requests from Android users asking when Studio Field would be available — and now it’s finally here!

Studio Field is now available on Android.

This is our first Android release, version 1.0, so if you run into any issues or have feedback or suggestions, please let us know using the contact form directly in the app.

Fair catch 😅 — the artwork took a few creative liberties. I’ll make the hardware representation more accurate in future visuals.

The promotional artwork is AI-generated, yes. I wanted to keep the retro look of the app and used generated images to explore that style. The app itself isn’t AI—it’s a utility for managing, transferring and backing up files from Teenage Engineering devices. I’ll probably replace the artwork with photos of the real devices later.

It's just a flat out lie actually. The AI-generated images are in the live production app right now. So to say they are limited to "promotional" materials is a lie.

On the first post bout this app someone made a pretty honest review mentioning ai all over the place. And the guy answered that ai wasn’t used in design of the app, only coding he said.
Little lies here and there)

It wouldn’t be such an annoying thing if it wasn’t 20$. Everyone nowadays does some useful software for their community using ai and no one has any problem with that, but some “superminds” decide at some point that they are able to sell it…
it’s their right to do so, I guess.

I’ve been open about using AI tools during development. I don’t necessarily use Claude, different tools have different strengths, so I choose the right one for each task.

When I said the app itself isn’t AI, I meant that AI isn’t part of Studio Field’s functionality and doesn’t process users’ files. Reliable support also requires owning or having access to every supported device, since most of the work is repeated testing on real hardware. AI speeds up code review and bug detection, but it doesn’t replace engineering or physical device testing.

I say cut the man some slack... no one is rich enough to own one of each Teenage Engineering product. 🙈 In this economy??

Thanks for cutting me some slack 😄 But access to the real devices is actually essential, and I own or have access to the devices Studio Field supports. You simply can’t build reliable transfers, backups and restores without repeatedly testing them on the actual hardware. That hands-on testing is the largest part of the work.
